    Please help a newbie

Im new here and trying to get my spread and ramp worked out, but I dont have CVCX (Im on mobile). Im lookin for my EV and Ror calcs. My local joints are 6d DAS RSA H17 no LS. Ive got a 2k replenishable BR looking at a $10 unit with a 1:8 spread, I18, wonging out < -2. Is this a winable game? I figure the EV will be pretty small to start but Ive got patience and time to build.

    Thanks for the help!

Not sure if Im using or interpreting this calculator correctly. Was hoping moving it to the public would get more traffic and more input, but I can delete if youd like?

The 1-8 spread may be okay, it depends upon what count you get to your max bet. If you are going one unit at tC 0, 2 units at TC2, 3 units at TC3, etc, it won’t do. You should ramp up faster.

At $2000 bankroll, you have 25 max bets on hand, which really means huge risk of ruin, even with wonging. So, it really depends on what replenishable means, and at what rate.

Once the meaning of replenishable is established, and at what rate, assumptions can be made, with discipline being key, at what we can assign as a bankroll. Example - $500 per month directed to bankroll suggests approx additional 6k can be added to bankroll - making theoretical bankroll 8k or 100 max bets. I suppose that’s okay with wonging, but you quit playing for the month if you lose $500, starting again the following month,

Next, presume for a moment no wonging. No surrender increases house edge. Without going to my cvcx, I’d presume around .63 with rules you’re suggesting, meaning that you really really need deep deck pen to make this work. Now, you can work backwards taking wonging into account.

You’ll be on a variance roller coaster with these numbers, but you can make it work - with adjustments.

Last, but not least, as a newbie, you’ll need some help from someone competent to evaluate your game to see if you have the skills necessary to succeed, or simply to make suggestions to help you plug leaks in your game. That person should be knowledgeable in your chosen count system.

I have often wondered about this idea of someone evaluating another person who is playing. I find so much of how I play, not the actual counting, but bet size and deviations based upon personality and instinct (sense of heat). I would not be betting the same amount at the same count and might not make some marginal decision strictly according to deviations at a particular casino, making concessions for table considerations. For example, I like playing with one other person (allows for wonging out or break conditions in negative counts) and might want to ensure that we get along and I don’t drive him away so in minimum bet situations, say a 12 against a 4-6, might not hit and instead go with his opinion.

in any case, sure would actually love to sit and play with you one day if our paths crossed. You and/or a couple of others.

12 vs. 3 may be borderline in basic strategy, but vs. 4, 5 or 6? Wouldn't the count have to be strongly negative to justify hitting these? I would stand on them anyway.

Zee would you recommend 1-2-4-6-8 so 1 unit @0 and 8units by tc4?

Freight, thanks for the input, 500 a month is a reasonable contribution to BR for me right now so that would work. Deck pen at my locals is decent but varies a little by dealer 4.5-5/6.

As for networking Id like to find am experienced player in my area. To evaluate my play. I found someone on the forums who's local to me and sent a friend request.

No, it is not borderline. You stand at a TC of +2

A hard 12 against a 4 you hit at a TC of zero *. the same hand vs a 5 upcard you hit at a TC of -1. A hard 12 vs a 6 upcard you hit at neg 1 in a S 17 game and hit at a neg 3 in a hit 17 game.

    * Back to that 12 vs a 4 in a S17 game with 6 decks or less composition basic strategy comes into play based on how your 12 is comprised. If your hand has a ten-value card with a duce basic strategy is to hit the hand.
