For those who read my earlier posts, I ended up cutting short my visits to casinos in WI and head to MN. It was a strange trip. I had driven a lot the first 2 days, found smaller casinos where the conditions were poor (I don’t mean the rules but table issues like low minimum tables that were crowded at the time I got there).
In in any case, I drove into the Treasure Island Resort on my 3rd day (Saturday)) and spent another day and night in MN, playing at 2 large, another medium sized one and a smaller one (near a big one).
I played for 2.5 hours at a DD table on Saturday, won $650 but then conditions got terrible as there was a huge concert nearby. I could not only get no room in MN ( no Motel 6, Super 8, none on hotels.com either), seems like a lot of concerts going everywhere and no motels were available under $150. I had a frustrating time driving on highways, taking exits to motels to find no availability. Some of the nice folks at reception even called around for me. Eventually, at midnight, a lady at a fully booked hotel, called around and found me a room at a Quality Inn in a town called New Prague, about 30+ miles away.
On Sunday morning, I played at a large casino in MN. I got there in the morning amazed to see DD, 4 deck and 6 deck games. I had not come across 4 deck games in my state or even MS and Las Vegas. I played a DD game and won $500 in about 2 hours. One interesting thing was when a new player joined a ploppy and me. The player plopped down $100, the ploppy was at $75 and I had $125 on a high positive count. The player at first base got 19, the ploppy had a pair of Jacks and I had a $20. The dealer had a 6 up. Ploppy split his jacks to a major disgusted show by the first player. Ploppy got a ten (20) on one split 10 and another with a 7 for 17. Dealer ended up with a 3 card 21. Player colored up with nasty stares at the ploppy.
I was quite happy having won $650 on Saturday night and now, in my first session of 2 hours, I won another $500. After lunch and a cursory look around on my Ipad for motels nearby, I went back to a large casino. In about 30 minutes, I had lost $1000 when a host introduced himself to me and talked me into a Players Card. I ended up losing $1300 but got a comped room for Sunday and Monday night.
In effect, I had started Sunday well, ended up losing $200 that day but had ended with a comped room for two nights and a buffet comp.
Basically, I was down about $200. Then came today (it’s 10:30 pm. Now, I head home tomorrow morning, Tuesday).
I will not mention the 2 casinos I played at but the sessions went as follows:
First session, DD, 90 minutes, Plus $650.
second session. DD, 60 minutes Plus $375.
Then I drove some, went for lunch at a tiny casino, had lunch, played 6 deck $5 table and went down $300, back up and left having won $25 in about 30 minutes. The heat became much as I was betting $50+ as the shoe got positive, locals were steadily all betting $5 and $10.
After lunch, took a nap, went down at 5:00 p.m., played DD for 90 minutes, won $975.
After that and dinner, I returned to the room around 8:30. Thinking I would quit now while I had won enough to have recovered. Then some of your comments about my past comments about win limits and preserving wins came back to me and I decided I should get more hours in. I went and played another 45 minutes at 6 decks, won $250.
On this final day, I won just over $2050. For my 5 day trip, I won $2k. After all expenses (gas, food, hotels), I made about $1600+.
I don’t think I am suited for the small casino road trips. I do like MN, no side bets on even some 6 deck shoes was refreshing. Unfortunately, it’s too cold a place for me to visit this year but I would come back next Spring via airline.
Tomorrow, I drive the 500+ miles back to home. Thanks MWP for encouraging me not to quit. Thanks SCG for the tip about one of the places I won. Thanks also to those who did not get on my threads simply to put me down.
