    How dumb can dealers be?

My friend was playing bj and had J4 v 10. He hits and draws a Q. The dealer says, "nice 21 sir" my buddy thinks the dealer is just being a smart ass. But then the dealer continues on, busts himself, then pays my friend. Wtf!
May the Variance be with you.

Has happened to me on a few occasions - once when I had a very sizeable bet out. My credo: "Take the Money and Run."

If you do take that large bet mispay and run, well I would be careful. That is a pretty obvious one...maybe act very distracted or something etc in case they come looking for a refund later.

One I find quite common is dealer miscalculating soft hands. This week, this dealer at games I played in paid for hands that were tied, like she had a 10, 8 and player has an Ace, 6, Ace or an Ace 2, 3, 2.

I've been paid on a lot of pushes at 3rd when another play pushes their spot. Luckily in this area everyone is quiet about it. I've ratted myself out when playing table min a few times in hopes of getting longevity but not sure if that's worth it.

Not long ago, while playing, a dealer was telling me how she was in charge of dealer training at her last job, and the biggest problem was the arithmetic-challenged trainees. Next hand, she paid me on a push

I wonder if Don has ever tinkered with developing an added edge for dealer error.

Seems like one must always exist assuming dealers aren't perfect and APs are savvy enough to catch any error that goes against us and ignore the opposite.

Though it would probably be difficult since simulations won't give you the answer. I imagine you'd need a large sample of real world empirical data. Casinos may have it.

Well, my experience is opposite, I had 8 and 2 dealer had 9, I double down got A, dealer flipped up a 10 and she picked up my chips. I have to yelled out "what the F.." then they called floor to rolled back the hand. Also I had push couple times on lost hand

The most common dealer error I see is a mispay on my $30 or $40 bet. I have a green chip on the bottom and they assume it is just an all red chip bet. Happens a lot after just flat betting $10 for awhile.

How about full 3-2 after surrender. Or, surrender, get half back, put new full bet in circle during same round but before all hands resolved, and getting paid (again) without cards in front of you.

    Countless others.

Freightman, my biggest dealer confrontation was a dealer who paid me out on a blackjack. Dealer has a six up with three other players at the table draws to a 21 and grabs up everyones chips including mine that I left in the betting square even though I had a blackjack and was paid already. It was a bit of a delayed reaction on my part due to taking a step back to look at my phone.

My fav is getting ES at Sp21. I always announce Surrender before the dealers checks for BJ, just in case. Works best in casinos with just a handful of Sp21 tables and no surr at BJ.

People make mistakes. The key is to catch the ones that go against you and collect on the ones that don't. Biggest-most common mistakes I see are on color up at the end of the session. Don't just assume that because both the dealer and the PC agree on an amount that it is correct. Check it yourself very carefully always!
