Blackjack 6:5 Payout but can Double Down at any time

My local casino has S17 standup blackjack tables where you can double down on your hand at any time whether it's the 3rd, 4th, 5th, ect. card. However, it only pays 6:5 for blackjacks. Is doubling down at any time really that much of an advantage that it would compensate a 6:5 blackjack payout? Anyone ever play a table with these types of rules?

One clarification please. Can you double more than once on the same hand, on both the second and third cards. If you can how many times.

I've played the table just a couple times with friends, so I'm not familiar with all the intricacies, but I'm pretty sure you can only double down once per hand.

    6:5 blackjack is -1.39%
Double any number of cards is +0.23%

Just looked up, at least for 1 double only.
This rule variation adds .23 to your edge, not nearly enough to compensate for 6-5 cost. Complete rule set would give a better comparison.

Haha! I'm always wondering how people would react if 3:2 were renamed to 6:4 or 7.5 : 5.

You could put two tables, side by side, one advertising 15:10 blackjack payoffs and the other 12:10, and the latter would get just as much play as the former. There is no limit to the utter stupidity of the gaming public.

Reference my earlier posts of Bally's A.C. side-by-side roulette tables, one with double zero and the other with single zero. First table packed, second table empty. The masses are asses.

I witness this all the time at my local place. 6:5 will be packed with smiling faces and cheers and 3:2 will have a bored dealer with no one in sight. Practically same mins too.

I also hear casinos are toying with triple zero wheels, with much success.

I've never heard of triple zero roulette wheels and I just googled it. That's absolutely insane.

European single-zero is the only I would sometimes play for camouflage reasons. The American double-zero Roulette house edge is always 2/38 = 1/19 = 5.26 percent,
but European single zero Roulette has a house edge on numbers of 1/37 = 2.70 percent (half of American) and on simple chances only 1/74 = 1.35 percent (again half of it, because when zero comes, you can get back one half of your bet, similar to Surrender). So the latter house edge is only one quarter of American Roulette, similar to baccarat (punto/banco) or craps (pass / don't pass line). Still much more than blackjack with basic strategy, but sometimes it probably is good to show some action other than blackjack when walking through casino.

Started a couple of years ago by the same people that brought you resort fees and paying for parking - the Vegas Strip casinos!
