    Las Vegas rant

When visiting Las Vegas, the challenge is to select which casinos to go to at what time of day. Especially if you want to ensure the tables are not crowded but also not so open that you are the only player and heat has nothing else to do but watch you play.

Downtown is tough to play on weekends and, often, nights. It’s fine between Noon and 8:00 p.m. The casinos outside the strip and downtown are often deserted before Noon and you get observed more closely if you play in the A.M.

These days, when visiting Las Vegas during the week, I play the strip in the mornings, seek other places for the afternoon and evening. It’s a pain when you drive to a casino at say, 8:00 a.m. and no one is playing BJ, one table open and the pit with nothing to do. It’s also tough when you drive some evening to a casino in Summerlin and all the tables are full.

So many casinos yet not enough guidance on where to play when.

every casino is different in terms of when good playing conditions are

on my first vegas trip last year where I played a lot of blackjack i spent a ton of time figuring out when different casinos were good to play and when they weren't

my subsequent trips in terms of blackjack were a lot more efficient and i had way less dead time

But what works for me might not work for you. People have different playing styles so what gets me kicked out of one place might be fine in another place.
Just out different appearences can make things different.

You're a lot older than me, so if you were playing bigger there are probably places you could get action down easier than I could.

There are a few strip places I like playing at. But i learned my lesson going in during the day. I go late at night looking like i just walked out of the club drunk.
It's a lot more believeable for me than it would be for you.

I am old, don’t play late at night. Play is mostly between 8:00 a.m. and a Midnight. I usually play from about 8:00 or 9;00, return to hotel around 3:30 p.m., nap, avoid rush hour and head out at 6:00 p.m. or later. Basically 6 hours in the daytime, 6 hours at night. Set aside two hours in driving and breaks, another 2 hours and it leaves me 10 hours a day. Actual table time is around 8 each day, total play time is between 25-28 hours each trip. Expenses (air, car rental, meals) is about $600.Rooms are comped. Basically a 4 day, 4 night trip.

if I win $800+ before expenses, I am okay with it. Below or loss and it upsets me. $1500+ win (about $1k after expenses) leaves me happy. I generally quit if I go up over $3k.
