    Quick question regarding DC area...

    Hi all,

I currently find myself near Washington DC for a quick work trip, and have a night to kill. I've done the touristy stuff in the past, no desire to do that today, and DC proper is further than I care to drive for tourism.

I was wondering if anyone knew the BJ conditions at the nearby casinos?(National Harbor, Maryland Live!) CBJN shows some pretty high table minimums, (25+) and other research I quickly did shows that they're even higher on the weekend. (I read $100+ on one website)

Is anyone familiar with the area and can point me in the right direction, or am I better off watching YouTube in my hotel room? Or if anyone has suggestions for the Herndon/Reston/Chantilly area (especially a good restaurant...), I'd appreciate it. :P

You're best off killing yourself. I hate that area. I did a quick scan to see if there were any restaurants in that area that I loved going to. Couldn't remember a single one. That said, Barcelona Wine Bar is a really small chain that I know from Connecticut. I'd totally go there. Love that place.

You're here at a bad time. Hard finding a good game with low heat. Don't even attempt to play rated right now in this area. It's a shit show.

Thanks for the info. Not enjoying the 97 degrees and rain, but I'm used to humidity while growing up.

Guess it's gonna be Texas Roadhouse for dinner, then and I'll skip the casinos.

The poker is soft at National Harbor.

I ended up finishing my work trip a few hours early, and made the drive to MGM National Harbor. Mostly because I wanted to visit Maryland before I left...

Anyway. I walked around the pits, and all the blackjack varied between $15 and $25, all 6:5, and a lot were CSM. I didn't see any 3:2 blackjack (maybe it was in the high limit area). Of course, even on a Monday evening, the tables were full of people playing $25 6:5.

I really see why casinos are starting to get away with it, because they can...

I did find a couple of $15 and $25 Spanish 21 games that paid 3:2, but they were all CSM.

I did have some good crab, so I guess not a total waste.

A casino near me is like this too. The real kicker is that I once walked up to a very young dealer asking about DAS and re-splitting aces. He was shocked I'd ask such a silly question and scoffed with the reply of "All blackjack games everywhere you can only double on the first two cards" Silly me I guess for asking such a weird question. Actually, it was a pointless question because had no intention of playing, but wanted to see just how awful the game really was.

Funny, I feel the same way. Lived there for many years.
