^ It sure is true though. I lasted 45 minutes at SLS before a rude backoff. It was kind of entertaining at the same time, however, as the gentleman rudely backed me off right there in front of the other players. Seeing the look on the civilians’ faces was priceless.

That’s where I prefer to get backed off. Do it right, it makes the house look bad, especially if the backoff is rude.

Doesn't matter. The idiots just keep coming.

The most mind-boggling "back-off" I had was about 15 years ago in the AC Harrahs Marina HL room. I was playing at a $100 min table with 2 other players. A pit boss came along, put a $5-50 placard on the table in front me and and told the other 2 players this applied only to me. Not an odd look, question, or anything. They just continued playing in their hypnotic trances like nothing just happened.

^ I would have played as many hands of $5 as I could just to take up the spots from any potential $100 players.

You could make money with a $5 to $50 spread.

True, but decreasing EV by a factor of 20 isn't my idea of making money.

With a 5-50 spread you can make more by learning one phrase: "Do you want fries with that?"

I can understand it but I was thinking he would not want to give them the immediate satisfaction of seeing him leave the table. I would wonder what would happen if he kept winning, even if less rapidly. I have been flatbet but not allowed to spread.

I stayed, betting $50, until the count dropped, then I left. This was a 6D shoe.

In NJ, the law requires them to give you a 1:10 spread, unless the flat bet level is $200 or greater.

As a generality, I’d suggest those out there to sim good rules average pen $25 min against good rules fantastic deck pen with either $5 or $10 min with either $100 or $200 max - by the way, I’ll play that low limit game heads up.

Then, for shits and giggles, to keep the riff raff off the table, sim (with one player grandfathered in at $10 min, $25 min-$200 max bet good rules 5.5 or better out of 6. You get to spread when you want to your hearts content. I agreed to those terms as well.

The point is - understand your rules against deck pen against spread equation and your expected dollar return.

Can you cite where the spread is in the law? I remember being flat bet in AC with them saying what I currently had in the circle was my flat bet amount. I found it odd but it makes more sense now because it exceeded $200. Unfortunately, when I didn't care they realized the count justified the bet and shuffled.

Not off the top of my head :-)

I have an AP friend who is an attorney (and I think you know him from the old NEAP days). He's the one who told me about it. I'm sure he's gone through the Gaming statutes. The $200 thing somehow got slipped in there about 5 years ago. Prior to that, they had to give the 1:10 spread, hence the 5-50 placards that every casino has tucked away in the pit.
