Anyway, my first advice would be to get some actual real live casino play even if its on csm machines. Yeah, it may cost you a few bucks. Consider it part of the cost of learning.

I think the cost and expenses of any trip to the USA from Europe is going to far out way any blackjack losses you will have. And the expenses of such a trip will almost certainly cause your trip to be a losing one especially playing low limits.

I will share my losses with you for my last several years. Most of my play has been at double deck, but some single deck and 6 deck is also included in the mix. I play mostly at the red chip level, but sometimes at the green chip level especially at single deck. My double deck play is mostly at $5 or $10 min games. Sometimes I play two hands at at time, sometimes just one. If I play two hands I have to double table min. My spread mostly would be to max $80 to $100, but depending on the casino I may spread as high as two hands at table max. These super max bets are far and few. They don't happen very often.
2019 average loss $307. Average session length 5.7 hours
2018 average loss $384. Average session length 6.0 hours
2017 average loss $445. Average session length 6.3 hours
2016 average loss $405. Average session length 4.7 hours
All of these years were winning years at blackjack. Well, 2019 isn't over yet, so don't know how 2019 will turn out, but as of right now it is still in the black. My largest one day loss over these 4 years was $1,391. On the other hand my largest one day win over these 4 years was $1,806.
If I’m not mistaken MWP’s session definition is different than all others - he may play 5 sessions in one day, but he calls that 1 session. He will have to clarify, but if that’s correct, then everyone needs to rethink his post.

I thought you were going to say he may play 5 sessions in one year :-)

For MWP's edification, it is VERY easy to travel from (most) country to country in Europe; much easier than US-Canada. At many border crossings by highway, if you didn't see the little sign on the side of the road with a country name and flag, you wouldn't know you've crossed into another country. No need to stop. You'd notice when the language changes on the exit signs along the road. See https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/sch...ountries-list/

Correct. Most of the time I classify one's day play as one session because I'm at only one casino for the entire day. However, the sessions are usually not broken up into several small sessions. There might be four hours of play followed by an hour to eat and then another 4 hour session after that.

Now if you notice in 2016 there are only 4.7 hours for average session that was due to Laughlin play where it is easy to walk to the next casino and I kept track of each different casino. In Wendover, I may play several different casinos in one day, but I lump the entire town into one big casino as they all have the same rules. Both my biggest one day win and one day loss over the last 4 years occurred on long 9 hour sessions at one casino.

Why all CSM in Europe? This makes no business sense. I think it would make great business sense to be the only casino offering a game with the attraction that it can be beat. Sure, they'll get the occasional solid AP in there, but the amount of people who show up and drop money from being under bankrolled or under trained will outweigh the few who can do a sting to the bottom line.

100 percent agree, but tell this to the stupid managers. I think the main problem is that nearly nobody in Europe knows blackjack well. This holds for players and casinos likewise. I know nearly nobody who even knows the rules at least. They all play stupid stuff like lotto or roulette at most. There is no casino culture in Europe, all being stiff, arrogant and not customer-friendly. Very few casinos and tables, so no decent game selection. Just the opposite of what I read in this forum and partially see in movies and TV series about 21 in the US.

Whenever it comes to blackjack in a discussion in Europe, the very first stupid comment I hear is "But card counting is illegal, isn't it?" The only thing that people here "know" about the game is that's risky and counting be illegal anyway. The same people blaming a blackjack player for losing 100 in a casino session or 1000 during a bad year say "beware of not getting a gambling problem" but have no problem throwing out 20 bucks every week and thus 1000 per year for playing lotto, without any realistic chance of ever winning back their losses.

The casino industry in Europe decided in the early 2000s that card counting is their biggest threat and must be thwarted at any price, so they purchased all those ugly and expensive machines for 15000 or 20000 Euros and destroyed the game completely, not only for counters. I see only some ploppies hanging around these machines. No style, no atmosphere. Maybe there are some shoes left in high-roller backrooms (pun intended), with absurdly high min bets for the average player (100 upwards or s.th.)

ANother odd thing about European casinos - lots of machines, but rarely are any of them for video poker.

Interestingly, I found an exception to this in Monte Carlo in Sept 2003. The entrance hall of the main building housed several video poker machines. I played them with coins for about 3 hours because no tuxedo was required (I wore only tourist bermuda trousers since I went to beach later that afternoon). But I had no strategy card with me and was no expert. The game was Jacks or Better but I don't remember payoff 8:5 or 9:5 or s.th.
