    Greedy Bastards in Wendover

Here is what happened in Wendover the last time they changed the blackjack rules.

June 2019 Revenue in Wendover. Go to page 26. This is the good rules.
    https://gaming.nv.gov/modules/showdo...cumentid=14840

June 2013 Revenue in Wendover. Go to page 26. This is the bad rules.
    https://gaming.nv.gov/modules/showdo...ocumentid=8037

Notice under the bad rules the win percent is a little higher, but total revenue is less than under the good rules. Oh when will they ever learn.

I suggest folks still away for awhile and maybe they will change the rules back again. On the other hand, maybe it will be less crowded and less sweaty. I ran a sim with the new rules vs the old rules spreading 1 to 6 in green and the difference was about $8 an hour.

Never been to Wendover, just curious, you can spread 1-6 on SD games without threat of back offs.

I'm still good, and I have been going there for about 12 years now. You can easily spread 1 to 6 in red. I go as much as 1 to 8 in red. My starting in red is usually $15 and will drop to as low as $10 and as high as $80. If playing green I'm a little more conservative, usually 1 to 5 and sometimes 1 to 6 and a few times will put out that $200 in green.

Zee, you should check it out. Delta has a non stop flight to SLC from where you are for $227. Rent a car and drive the 120 miles to Wendover. Heck, if I had a car I would also make the 125 mile drive up to Jackpot and check them out. However, I should add I never played in Jackpot, but it would be a good backup choice if you get backed off in Wendover.

    Where is Jackpot? What state?

Trip report for that other trip be out soon.

On on another note, on road trips, can you really hit some of those casinos on weekdays? Would there not be too few people and tables and thus too much heat, say a Monday at Noon?

After a devastating couple of months where I could not string together 2 win sessions, I finally won 3 short sessions in a row, about $800 win total. Interesting how quickly confidence returns after almost quitting!

It's like you don't have the internet. Take two seconds to do your own research.

For real though, I don't think it's fair to compare 2013 and 2019. What do the numbers look like for other years?

Zee, Jackpot is in Neveda 125 miles northwest of Wendover. It is on the border of Nevada and Idaho. I think most of the folks that come to play at Jackpot are from Twin Falls, Idaho. Jackpot like Wendover is very small. I hope you didn't think I was talking about Jackpot Junction which is a casino in MN.

I just got back home from a comped weekend in Wendover. Lost $1148, it seemed like I would almost always lose when I ramped in positive counts. Those statistics are backed up, by the amount of ploppies I saw there making or attempting to make terrible doubles like 10 vs 10, 9 vs 8, 8 vs 7. Luckily, one of the Pit Bosses at the Peppermill, where I stayed this time now thinks I'm your typical problem gambler. One of the dealers at the Montego told me that the rule change was due to the fact that a high roller won about $26,000 from them, that it will change back when they again realize how much they're losing out on, and that it's just the politics of who owns the casinos. I feel like Casino Bean Counter types are perpetually miserable. Hilariously enough, the rule change was also right after I personally won $1300 in Wendover. Were you there too this weekend?

I think the biggest impact on the revenue numbers was probably the great recession of 2008. So in the years right after 2008 we slowly came out of the recession. The recession probably had a bigger impact than any rule change. However, he is another comparison with 2007 right before the recession and with the bad rules in 2013.

June 2007 Revenue in Wendover. Go to page 26. This is the good rules.

You're making me crazy. Why aren't you doing quarter on quarter? Why 5 years apart?

Can you just post the numbers for every year between 2013 and 2019, or whatever the hell the timeline indicates? Look at the trend, not just two points that are 5+ years apart.
