Wife Says Why Didn't You Quit While You Were Ahead

Damn, I hate when she says that. My answer is how much should I be up before I quit. Should I be up $10, $100, or $1,000. I will admit it is very depressing to be up and then have the game go to hell.

Yeah, my last BJ trip went to hell after being up. The game had decent rules, but only 50% pen. I beat 50% DD games often and earlier in the day with heads up or just another person did fairly well. Then went to eat and took a break only to come back to full table conditions. Three hands and then a shuffle.

When I go on a BJ trip, I go to play. Play will get me comped rooms and food. I was hoping the crowded conditions would die down, but they pretty much lasted until close with this being the peak of tourist season. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I should have not played in those less than desirable conditions. However, there is really not any other options. The next closet casino is two hours away. You just have to camp out and hope other folks leave.

I guess for me, I have only six good months of playing conditions. March thru May and Sept thru Nov are good conditions. In summer, all the tourists from down south come north and the winter brings the snowmobilers. Took an off the beaten path and tourists were like locusts in several small summer tourist locations.

Now up to 95 hours of bj playing time for year.

Wife Says Why Didn't You Quit

In my case, it was when I had a run of massive positive variance and was up mid 5 figures.

My answer to her: Does the casino ever close when they're up?

My answer to you: Stop obsessing over short term results. If one day or one trip makes such a difference to you, either play more or quit altogether.

    TLDR

Don’t tell her you were up and then lost. Similarly, don’t say you were down and then ran it up.

Don’t be so quick to make that comment. I have a friend who travels not, does not get tossed, settles for less EV, who is virtually invisible, and has done well for years.

Trying to get there. Unfortunately, I am down playing 6 deck red chip games. Haven’t travelled much this year.

I'm speaking on general terms. But eventually his campaign will be shut down.

Recreational play, play when you can and try for the best conditions locally. Expect tourists/ploppies to migrate to your table. Why? I think there is a 'let's play with other players' theory out there. They feel timid joining an empty table, so they seek out a table with a player or two. Unfortunately they don't realize how they screwed you by joining and wanting to be your 'fist bump' buddies. This has been my summer so far.......get a table, ploppies show up, I leave. Get another table, the ploppies show up again :-(

I might be coming across as Elite but why don't Dealers put up signs on certain Tables saying something like,"Only Experienced Blackjack Players," allowed?" And on other tables,"Only Amateur Blackjack Players," allowed?"

I found it helpful. Have you been to the casino buffets? You can definitely get some bad gas from there, I found the information very helpful.

Why would the casino do that? What benefit does the casino have from preventing their players from playing -EV games? While we're at it, why don't they say "Only experienced slot players allowed"?
