As everyone knows, I play all. Further, I usually play heads up with a no hole card game. This translates into that most important factor, hands per hour. If I leave a shoe because of a shitty count, then that shoe is dead until someone else shows up – clearly unacceptable to both myself and the house.

The math may be the math, but it is not necessarily the most practical. I make up shitty counts with loads of index play and speed of play. It works for me.

I know you play a lot of Canadian no hole card games. I have scouted my local casinos 7 times since i started back to playing serious, and have a total of 13min actual playing time. Every table is CSM, or the few shuffle games have 5 or 6 players. I envy your ability to find heads up. The one time I found a DD with only one player and sat down, there were 5 players by the end of the second shuffle. I only kept playing for 13min because I was winning, and why quit when winning? The pen and the pace of play was pathetic with 5 players, and that is the best I have found so far. If you have some hints on finding heads up, can you please email me at APinVancouver at gmail? I am not asking you to disclose any of your honey holes, but maybe some of the places you are no longer welcome to play at?

I’m in my 10th hour of work exceeding my typical gruelling schedule of 6-7 hours a week. I do know your market. Remind me in a couple of days if I haven’t sent it, and I’ll send you something. Oh, and I haven’t been backed off their yet. No big secrets as to what’s up there.

* Don is absolutely correct: "The math is the math." Everything about basic strategy, index play, betting spreads, etc. is mathematical. It's all statistics and probability. If you play hands in which you have a disadvantage, in the long run, you will lose money on those hands. Sure, you can mediate this, in part, with good index play, but a disadvantage is still a disadvantage and you will lose money as we cannot escape the mathematical certainty.

* However, Freightman is correct in that there can be external and environmental factors that can tip the scales in favor the the player. Are there sloppy dealers who show hole cards? Is there a side wager that, though typically terrible, becomes advantageous at negative counts? Etc. It is entirely possible that Freightman has found a nice niche that he can happily exploit...

* It is also very reasonable that playing through negative counts is better than other options. If you can play one-on-one with a healthy spread, great penetration, and a dealer that will let you play at close to 200 hands per hour, playing playing every hand might be quite a bit more profitable than playing at another table - perhaps where there are three or four ploppies, playing multiple hands where you would be lucky to play 30 hands per hour.

The stupidest thing I hear is “the math is the math”. The problem is that you can never be “the math”. The math never has to deal with travel expenses, heat, finding a table to play, can always bet optimally, has an unlimited bankroll, never gets fatigu...s.
