Casino Verite Software Problems - false currency when playing

    Hello

I have had several problems for years with Casino Verite (5.0 then 5.5 now the 5.6.230 version).
One of them is that when I am playing, my bankroll and bets are displayed in a false currency
("Fr", probably Swiss Francs is meant, rather than U.S. dollars.).

I bought CV Blueprint Edition in 2008, then CV 4.0 till 5.5 in 2009 and 2010.
My old computer had Windows XP, and I think it displayed USD as currency back then.
However, I had several problems when my notebook crashed in June 2010 and then
I had to buy a new one (HP Pavilion dv 6) with Windows 7, which I still have,
and then had to reinstall CV and CV Shuffle on the new Windows 7 machine.

Maybe the problem is that I'm living in Switzerland and one time searched for a Swiss casino
in the CV casino database, and this might have led to CV switching the currency?
However, currently I see a "Harrah's" casino, sometimes also "Bellagio",
without remembering to have selected a special casino.
Actually I only want to setup a card counting betting and playing strategy and then play.

Another problem is that whenever I select Options - Settings - Environment and then check the option
"2.50 Dollar chips exist", then click OK, CV does not save this option. When I switch back to
Options - Settings - Environment, the option is again not checked.
I have set "Novice", don't know if this is the reason.

I remember having played CV with simplified chip design (as in the CV Blueprint edition)
and then seeing the pink 2.50 dollar chips. But I have never managed to get the 2.50 dollar
pink chip option to work in combination with realistic chip design.
When I bet a red 5 chip and get a natural, I still get 1 dollar chips and 1/2 dollar coin, but wish to get a pink chip in this case.

    Anyone has the same problem?

    1. CV looks at the Windows currency and number format settings when you start it and displays all currencies accordingly. That is, different symbols, decimal separators, digital groupings, negatives, leading zeros -- and If you have your Windows currency setting to Swiss Francs, it will make this change. Here's the problem. Windows will automatically change this setting in some situations. Quite annoying, and more likely in Switzerland as it has four official languages. The Windows task bar should show the current language selection and can be changed by clicking on it. There is a Windows option that freezes it; but it varies by Windows release.
    2. The newer realistic chip option uses a different set of graphics with different chip designs. If I remember correctly, I didn't include the $2.50 chip in the newer graphics which is less common these days, so I could allow more stacks and higher values.

Hi Norm, many thanks for your quick reply!

ad 1.) I indeed do often switch my keyboard settings (using Ctrl-Shift) between German - Germany, German - Swiss and English - Great Britain. Just wasn't aware of the fact that this does also change the currency (which is usually not displayed).

ad 2.) OK, I just was confused why checking this option does not effect the graphics. (actually chose my nickname according to these nice pink chips :-)

PS: Sorry I tried to replace the two first screenshots by a third one which shows both issues at once, but couldn't delete the older screenshots of the posting).

What I find annoying is that when I edit a Word doc with Casino Vérité in the text, it sees the accents and switches to French. It then marks all the words as misspelled. What's funny is that casino is an Italian word.

Just made an interesting observation: when I switch my keyboard settings from the default "German - Swiss" to English - Great Britain" and then start up CV, the keyboard settings are switched back to the default "German - Swiss", therefore still "Fr" is the currency. As soon as I close and exit CV, the keyboard settings switch back to English - Great Britain. I guess CV reads the default settings from the Win 7 operating system, but am astonished that the keyboard settings are switched in general, which probably means they are now valid also for other applications than CV.

Correction: No, when I switch to German - Swiss and open Notepad editor and type in some words, the keyboard is English,
and I have to use Ctrl-Shilft _within_ the Notepad application to write e.g. German Umlauts. So every application seems to have its own layer of
    keyboard settings.

There are keyboard settings, region settings, number settings, and currency settings. Then you have pre-unicode double-byte character sets for Chinese ideographs, Japanese kanji, and Korean hangul/hanja.
