Sure, no argument there. I will never forget, many years ago, I was in Bally's A.C. In the roulette pit, they had decided to introduce single-zero European roulette, which as PinkChip outlined above, has a much smaller house edge than the American double-zero version. The two games were now side by side, and the American game was jammed, with no room to get in, while the European game stood empty, with not a single player! My two favorite sayings about the collective stupidity of people come quickly to mind: 1) The masses are asses; and 2) There are many more horses' asses in the world than there are horses!

I guess everyone wants to make money but has different ideas about how to do it. Some just want to get lucky. I guess they think there's something special about them that will allow them to beat the odds this one time. Problem is, they show up often with that same mindset, and that's when the math takes over. And they lose.

I unfortunately have a lower opinion of humanity, generally, since I started doing this seriously over a year ago. And it's as a result of the folks in casinos. I need to remind myself that they are not representative of all people. But the irrational crap I hear at the table makes me wonder how some can function in a civil society.
