Do They Give Your Money Back

I never had this happen to me, but I've been wondering about it.

Assume you go to a casino destination and the first thing you do is check into their hotel around 3:00 or 4:00 pm and pay for the room. You bring your stuff up to your room and use the bathroom. They you head down to the blackjack tables. After a few hours you get the tap and they kick you off their property without getting to stay the night. Will they refund your money for the hotel stay considering your were only in the room for maybe a half hour?

I’ve never been booted in that matter.

    1. Are the hotel and casino owned by the same corporate entity. If so, then they might boot you, or let you stay the night.
    2. If separate entities, they have no recourse (theoretically).
    3. If they boot you, they must allow you to retrieve their belongings. Security doing the job for you opens up a hornets nest.
    4. Wouldn’t mind a legal opinion on this one - if you’re booted off the property for non behaviour issues, and you have health issues, and as a result of the trespass, you suffer serious or semi serious repercussions, then I think you would have an action based on the premise that house knew, or should have known, that their egregious actions could cause serious harm.
    5. I know on the credit cards that I have, I would have no issues having the transaction reversed.

    I’m sure they’re other scenarios.

There have been several cases of players 86 from the casino including the hotel and I never heard anyone was able to get their hotel money back. Some cases the hotel was booked through a third party like expedia. I was once 86 from a big casino in Vegas and was staying in the hotel. They did not seem to know that I was staying in the hotel and I had my stuff and bankroll in the room. I just picked up my chips and walked out. I tried to call Bob N. for advice but got an answer machine. I waited 30 min, took my jacket and hat off, put reading glasses and walked back in. I passed by the security guard who just 86ed me and he did not even take a look. I went to my room, got my stuff and went to my car and left. The room was comped though.

If you book directly through hotwire or Expedia, good luck in getting your money back. If you have a high-end credit card and have book direct with the casino, you should have no problem getting your money back.

My Credit Card carrier took my side.

I’m assuming you had one of the higher end credit cards, further supported by excellent credit and payment history. What these companies can do with software to evaluate honesty profiles (amongst others) is amazing.

Air Canada cancelled a flight about 10 years ago, that I had booked for a destination wedding for someone. The charges were about $4000. The assholes (maybe th3 Dipshit worked for them) refused to refund, giving me 6 months to book elsewhere on the prepaid trip.

Horseshit!. The credit card company refunded all charges. I simply provided the Air Canada response, as justification for RBC to reverse charges.

A life lesson for all. Pay heed.
