    Lifetime Backoffs per Hour Played

I thought it would be interesting to see how many backoffs we are getting per hour played. I know a lot of folks don't have accurate records on this, but a good estimate is good enough. I didn't start keeping track of my hours played until the year 2000. So my best guess for each session played (in most cases a session is one day) is between 5 and 6 hours played. Its probably closer to 5 hours than 6 for each session because when I was working full time I could not play a real long session.

However, my total lifetime number of times I played is exactly 2,200 times. Now lets assume 5 hours for each session played and we have 11,000 hours for my total lifetime blackjack play. So if I divide by my total number of backoffs, I have one backoff for every 2,200 hours played.

I should mention for about the first 10 years of my blackjack play I wasn't a very good player and no backoffs occured. I just didn't spread enough.

Okay, anybody else want to mention how many backoffs they are getting per hour played.

Aren’t Backoffs related to your style of play? Your spread, your act, etc. I mean, someone going from $10 to 2 hands of $500 is more likely to get a back off than someone playing a 1-8 spread. A DD player might get backed off more often then someone playing an 8 deck game, etc.etc.

True. However, I'm just looking for number of backoffs per hour played. I don't care what brought them about.

I can only dream about having a backoff rate that low.

Not everyone uses a slash and burn style.

Approx. once every 160 hours. Rate is much higher in single deck than shoe games. Would be much worse except for a 6 deck game I played for many years never getting backed off (1864 hours total on this one game)

All of my back offs were in the last hour.

Playing sessions on primarily shoe games I average a backoff every 65 hours or so.

    Not relevant.

Backoffs are more about style of play.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!
