Question for the group, single deck, DD and 6-deck

So, I really like to play single and DD games with decent rules (Wendover) then DD S17 or H17 DAS with .5 or so cut off. I have been pretty successful over the last few years as a grinder with a 1-6 spread, maybe 1-8 depending on heat levels.

I've recently started to play decent 6-deck games and found it more enjoyable (and profitable) to ride a good count to the end versus a DD game that went south. Am I alone in this thinking or are there others that blend their play between DD games and 6-deck games? I'm confident in my count, but hitting a 6-deck with multiple max bets and not getting them hurts, verses a DD game where a few max bets are out and it's shuffle time.

I'm going forward with a blend of DD and 6-deck play.......anyone care to share some stories, strategies and thoughts?

It’s fair to say that single, double and 6 deck shoes are each their own separate animal, and each require separate approaches for success. There’s not a lot of time at pitch games for artistry. Accordingly, when opportunity presents itself, you must act. There is far more volatility, far more potential for wild counts both positive and negative. The scenario described is why pitch is such a counter trap.

Six deck shoe games, played heads up or with one other square occupied, presents far more opportunity for creativity. You can’t hide the overall ramp, but there is plenty of opportunity to mask that ramp in such a fashion, as to make your self look like second class, and therefore a beatable counter to be welcomed by the casino hordes. Another reason to avoid crowded tables.

I think it goes without saying that you should play the best game you can find, and that includes considering heat. There is much less heat on a 6D.

I generally prefer 6D although I play more DD. The only thing I dislike about 6D is the difficulty to Wong out in smaller casinos I frequent. Often they don't shuffle when the table empties, so if you're heads up you can Wong out but unless someone goes in those same cards will wait for you.

I much prefer DD over 6 deck, but I do play both. There aren't many 3:2 single deck games outside of Nevada. The only 3:2 single deck game in the Midwest I know of is at Green Bay and that game is usually to crowded.

MWP - They had a single deck 3:2 game in Vicksburg a couple of months ago......two stores had two tables each. Good variance was not with me the evening I visited.

RCJH.....totally agree about wonging out in a small place. Lots of places in small towns will 'wait' until you come back before they start playing.
