Can you still make money counting in these conditions?

Is it still worth counting with all the restrictions in blackjack? Half the tables have CSM so those are out of the question. The other have of tables have shitty rules and with 75% penetration once you get a decent positive count the casino cuts off the last two decks.

    Can you still make money?

To paraphrase BJHOFer, Richard Munchkin, there are more opportunities now than ever before. Just open you eyes and your mind and think beyond counting.

Find a better game, you may have to travel but there are many casinos offering decent rules with 75+% pen.

You have to go out and do the research yourself. Take the time to scout out ALL casinos near you and maybe make a drive to an area with a couple big casinos. Don't heavily rely on others for info about different shops to play at. Chances are, if there is a good game nearby where you're at, other AP's won't say anything so they can keep playing for as long as possible. If your serious about being an AP, info scouting is just as or even MORE important than the skill itself. Playing a perfect game means nothing if there's no places to play at.

Or You need a higher spread in order to make money on the game which will result higher variance...

Learn to use a strong count so your spread can be "polite"
and still profitable - so that you'll likely avoid being 86'd.

By strong count, it means true count based systems, at least level 2, like HiOpt2 with ASC, Zen, Advanced Omega with ASC, not some lazy count like KO. Also you need to learn all positive indexes. Also the keyword is "polite". Lower spread means longevity.

The poorer the cut, the lower the frequency of higher true counts, which requires a higher bet spread to overcome the cost of waiting bets, which decreases the quality of the game, which increases variance.

Not to start a debate, which encourages a stronger count, with tweaks, to maximize your return.

I sense a reincarnate of the hi Opt 2 brigade.

That's what I meant as well nonetheless I never really cared about cover play because I'm European. Actually I always managed to get away with my spreads in the United States of America with no heat whatsoever just because I was "just" a tourist with a crappy Irish accent.
Americans and also Canadians seem to be remarkably good BJ players however the casinos are aware of this fact. (All the anglo-saxon nations in general.)

And let me tell you something! Every single time When I'm playing with an American at the table in Europe the pit appears to be more vigilant.
Speaking other languages or pretending to be something else definetely help you getting away with your action.

By the way It's good to see you back on the Forum

I've missed your sense of humour...
