Is it possible to count like this.

This might be a stupid question however if you took a deck and counted how many 9-A were dealt out wouldn’t that tell you what percent of high cards are left in the deck opposed to small cards? In a 8 deck shoe there would be 192 high cards 192 small cards leaving out the 8s. Sort of making an 8 a zero card

No. A 9 is not a high card. Don't try to reinvent the wheel.

I count the 9 as -.5 and so do a lot of other folks who use the halves count. So if its counted as a negative, it surely isn't a small card or neutral card. What else could it be but a high card.

I think he means A-9 vs 10's and faces.

Some people want to "reinvent the wheel" while others want to "split hairs."
Just relax and do not dream of a fantasized lifetime of tax-free income that
will replace education and working for a living. Just knowing the percentage
of high cards vs. low cards, while nice to know, is not a "key to the kingdom."

Thank you all the the feedback. I have been practicing the KO system and was not trying to reinvent the wheel. I just was thinking if you only counted the high cards that after 8 decks would be 192. If you are half way through the shoe and already counted past 96. For example 120 that would obviously mean there are more small cards left then big. Knowing that information I would leave knowing the casino has a higher edge. I am just brainstorming.

I just figured there would be a lot less cards to count. Makes for less mistakes.

Where did you ever get the idea that gambling income is tax free? Definitely taxable in USA.

    Sure, but why?

Its not enough to know the percent of high vs low. You need to know your percent advantage to bet properly. I can see using this to figure out how BAD the shoe is; you'd still have to convert to figure out how GOOD it is. And it's also VERY helpful to know when to break from basic strategy. You would have to sim all your own indices, and do some sort of true count conversion.

The good news is this has already been done for you if you use a conventional counting system. If I were you, I'd spend time practicing vs trying to find a shortcut.
