How Long Will a Battery Last in Cell Phone

I've had only two cell phones in my life. They made me get rid of my first cell phone after only a couple years because it didn't have GPS tracking. They said a new law was passed that all cell phones had to have GPS tracking. Anyway, my existing cell phone is a flip phone. I really don't need a smart phone. What I really like about my existing phone is I got grandfathered into a plan that costs only 15 cents per minute and the minutes don't expire as long as I make one call a month. I only use it to check on wife while on blackjack trip and the calls are only a couple minutes. I figure I spend under $50 for an entire year.

Now I think my battery in my cell phone is providing a shorter life between charges. I never take my charger with me on a blackjack trip and in the past it would always be good for a three day trip. However, on my last 3 day trip I noticed the battery was almost gone. I never keep my phone turned on so if wife wants to reach me she will have to call casino. Told wife on last trip could only talk for a minute as battery was about to die. I also have a car phone, but don't like to walk all the way out to car to make a call. Anyway, how long should a cell phone last? I'm guessing this cell phone is about 15 years old, but can't remember how old it is.

And I thought I was frugal counting every dollar I tipped in poker. (Tbf I'm obsessed with stats and winrates)

Sounds like you need a new battery.

Assuming it's a Lithium battery (or in your phone do you have to pop the top off and add water to the cells?) the way to extend its life is NEVER charge it to above 90% and don't let it go below 10%. The way to SHORTEN the life of a Lithium battery is charge to 100% and store it that way. There's plenty of studies online documenting this.

Just keep a charger with you. Plug your phone in when you want to use it. If it is plugged in, it doesn’t matter how crummy the battery is.

A smart phone is worth it for a BJ player and you can get annual costs down to $180. You can make trip notes, use as alarm and reminder, find and check deviations for the game you are playing and take pictures of you see some scenic spot or record conversation if cop stops you. It can make you laugh with jokes or play your music Nd most importantly, with Google maps, can help you avoid traffic jams and delays on the road.

I thought I was the last adult to get a smart phone. That was in 2011.

The advantage of a flip phone is it's a better ice scraper.

Can you elaborate more on how to keep smartphone annual cost under $180?
    Thanks!

I think this is one way, and I was going to look into this, but I was hoping someone who has a plan with Charter could chime in. It appears you get unlimited talk and text. I don't know if 14 GB is very much and your internet service has to be with them.

Freeup mobile is decent, running on at&t. I pay $20 for 2GB(?). T&T is free if you earn points by taking surveys or some other bs.

Not sure if you’re serious. I wouldn’t switch even if someone is paying me.
