Thread: Pit Boss couting down a shoe?

a few months ago I was in a small vegas casino spreading 50-300 on dd
i had been there about an hour, and was going to leave after the next "shoe"

The count sky rocketed. It was about +12 with a little over half a deck left and going to be the last hand. I ended up with 44 vs 6 , and up splitting to 4 hands and doubling on 2 of them
Because I started the hand with a little over 300 in front of me i just bet it all. dealer busts and I win all of the hands. The dealer has some trouble because of the small amount of change on each bet and the pit supervises them.
After I was paid he took the discards out and started what I assume was counting it time. I didnt play rated and I left. But i thought it was funny he was counting it down rather than just asking survaillance to check instead of making it so obvious.

    tomf23,

Sometimes the pit critters do the obvious "count down" simply to send a tacit message to the player.

It’s so crazy when they count down the discard! Only happened to me in Vegas. Also in Vegas the dealer was apparently counting while dealing and ratted me out to the floor person! I don’t know how people can play in Vegas. I like playing anywhere else but Vegas: better rules, more 3:2 tables, laid back staff.

Tread very carefully. Do not be naive and underestimate your foe.
If an employee yanks the discards and counts them down they're
sending you a clear unmistakable signal. i strongly suggest that
you "flat bet" for awhile and then "hit the bricks."
