Playing Rated Under a False Name.

So I've found myself in a situation where it is possible for me to acquire a high quality Fake ID.

I'm considering getting it strictly for the use of signing up for players cards. Right now I play as a refusal 100% and have been successful in protecting my identity even with pit critters asking for my ID right before a back off.

My thoughts are that it probably seems weird for a repeat gambler to always turn down a players card. Although I do see the greater value in having a clean name and being able to play, I've also heard that being a refusal is on the checklist of identifying advantage players. I would also be able to claim some of the comps I collect.

I would only use it once initially, for signing up for the card and would offer my real ID for law enforcement or any thing legal that may arise.

Does anyone see pros or cons in this?
    Thoughts comments and experience welcome.

(Although I'm not up to have the discussion of just playing rated under ones real name, my mind is made up)

No one size fits all. Make sure your stakes warrant it.

    +1

If you do decide to get the card, go to the casino, get your players card and leave without playing that day. Never carry the fake ID into the casino, except that one time.

I like the "I don't want my wife to know I'm gambling and if I get offers in the mail, she knows I'm gambling" approach. Certainly is believable.

They respond that they will make sure you don't get sent any emails or mailings.

And then you respond, "you guys always say that, but I've been screwed before by mailers that aren't supposed to come."

There's always a reasonable, believable answer to their comebacks.

"I had a card one time years ago and was the victim of identity theft from a breach in their system - took me over a year to un-screw my credit and finances. I'm not taking that chance again."

Just say "no thank you " works just fine for me.

Ask 'em how they intend to guarantee it.

First of all, if you say something with confidence, you will be believed. What are you doing in the casino if you can't be confident and get what you want?

Second, make them think you're crazy. You're proud you can hold a conversation and count at the same time? Good. Use that to explain to them that you can't get mail from them because you have an ant problem in your house. Why does that matter? Because the last time you got mail from a casino the exterminator was at your house.

I swear, people aren't creative enough. I can work them into circles and they'll never come back again to ask.

What about just using someone else's card at the table. Not trying to use any of their comps (might be considered stealing?). But if someone I know who doesn't play BJ loans me their player card, would it be safer to play under their player card to deflect the unrated player suspicion? No fake ID required

That may have worked 15 years ago, but nowadays, when they swipe a card, a picture pops up on the display at most casinos. If you have a friend who looks like you, it could work, but if caught, not only will they toss you, but your friend's account will be cancelled.

Another tactic that worked years ago was just using cards found left in slot machines (a quick scan down the aisle for a machine for red or orange lights around the card slot...), however, the name had to match what you looked like. For example, I wouldn't do well with a card with a name like Rebecca Smith or Jimmy Nguyen.

One time, I found a premium card at a Boardwalk casino, used an upgrade offer in a Marina, and converted it into a premium card there, which included $100 freeplay. After sitting at a table, floorperson took my card, looked at the screen after scanning, then looked back at me. She said, "I know so-and-so and you're not him." After some quick thinking, "You must know my cousin. We have the same name. We were both named after our grandfather from the old country..." And it worked. As therefinery said a few posts up, if you exude confidence, you will be believed.

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage.
