Thread: What have you heard other players/Casino personnel say about you/your play??

Zee, Dbs, Here's some blunt truth for you: BJA members aren't limited to newbies. Some of the top full-time pros post regularly on BJA, making it a very valuable resource for networking. Zee, your problem seemed to be mistreating full-time pros and never acknowledging the reality and value of being an AP. Dbs, Colin doesn't care whether you tip dealers or not. I tip dealers and have said so on BJA without any problem.

Before Colin kicked me off his site, I got a personal email from him telling me the next time I talked about tipping I needed to include data from CVCX letting people know how it negatively impacted my EV.

This upset me. I wasn’t going to spend the time to do that and at that point I wanted off the site. First, I think this is poor way for a moderator to address one of his members. Why did Colin do this behind the scenes in a personal email? Why not say this to me on his open forum when I made a comment about tipping. I expect it was because Colin didn’t want to show his true colors about being against tipping.

No other forum moderate has ever done this to me, and I’m on quite a few forums. When Norm doesn't agree with someone, he discusses it in his open forum. I know I have never got a personal email from Norm and I think people see that he and I haven’t seen eye to eye on all issues.

Personally, I think this was an unprofessional way to handle things. Like I said, Colin has every right to run his forum the way he wants. It’s his forum. It’s his business. But when I saw freedom of speech was being squashed (through private emails), I wanted off.

I also agree with Zee in that the claims of pros and wannabe pros were dangerous and misleading to the newbie and veterans alike. When I was on the forum, I thought Zee was very respectful when he made his points. And he made some very good posts while I was a member. I was surprised by all the people thinking of quiting their jobs or college to become a pro bj player. I know if I was a parent of any of these kids, I’d have been very concerned.

Zee has beem kicked off BJA, so these kids no longer have a voice of reason to counter some of the outlandish claims of the pros. That might be good for Colin’s business, but I highly doubt if that’s good for these kids who are still searching for direction.

Why do any of you give a flying F what others say or do? Go play your game and piss on everyone else. If any of you spend as much time in casinos as you do posting stupid shit online, you might actually make a little money.

Pssst. It's because they don't play.

Agreed! I don’t play during the week. Sometimes I’m bored at work sitting in some meeting in the back of the room. That’s when I do my best posting. Lol.

I don’t care what others think. Have you seen my posts? I’m definitely not trying to win any popularity contest here. I was just replying to someone who asked me why I got kicked off BJF, and defending Zee. It wasn’t a big deal. I was ready to move on anyway.

I’m a unique AP. I like APing but I also respect casinos and understand their business model. I’m not upset when they kick me out. If I was in their shoes, I’d do the same thing. I’ve seen card couunters get away with things I’d never allow if I was running a casino. Anyway, when I’m kicked out, I learn from it and try to do better the next time to stay under their radar. I’m definitely not a slash and burn type. And I do make a little money.

You beat me to it! Didn't haven't Zee and Dbs already had this exact same conversation on another thread? If I remember correctly it was mercifully closed not long after the thread started. But just to make sure you guys feel heard, here's the cliff notes.

    1. You guys were both booted off BJA
    2. Dbs feels it was unfair and that his opinion wasn't appreciated and that Colin wants his forum to be an echo chamber
    3. Zee feels the same although he appreciates that Colin was at least pretty nice about it.
    4. This has created a bond between the two of you
    5. And now you want everyone else to know how you FEEL, recognize that you were wronged and not appreciated.

I'm sorry you guys were rejected for BJA, I hope you can (at some point) start the healing process. Heck, maybe just talking about it every chance you get is a bit of a salve to the wound. It's not for me to judge but maybe it's time to start moving on.

Great summary Buckester! I might change a couple things here and there, but overall you got it right. And yeah, I’m still wounded but healing.

For the record, I did learn a lot on BJA early on. And I have recommended it to others who are newbies. I mentioned this on BJA so Colin knows that. One of the pros even thanked me. That was about a month before I got kicked off.

Personally, I think when you start out being an AP you should read as many bj books as possible and join as many forums as possible. I’ve learned from all of them, including BJA.

Them: "Do you know how to play? Because we (two dudes with easily 400 of my base units in front of them) don't play with people who don't know how to play."
    Me: "I think so - I'm new."
    Me: (surrender 15v10)
Them: (gesturing at me like I just took a poop right on the table itself)
Them: "I'm not hitting (14v10) because someone at the table surrendered"
    Them: (loses his hand)
Them: (next hand return bets from ~8-10 units to table minimum, one hits natural BJ)
Them: "I had to lower my bet because someone surrendered last hand"
    Them: (lose every red cent)
Me: (leave up 115% of my buy-in in the same time period)
