    Player's card/Showing ID

I'm fairly young-looking, so I get ID'd at pretty much every table i sit down at. Given this, should I use a player's card to take advantage of comps? I know the consensus on here is never to use a player's card because it's too easy to get backed off at multiple casinos that way, but if i get caught at one casino after showing my ID couldn't they just get my info from my ID anyway and send it around? I've never used a player's card but after thinking about it, it seems i have nothing to lose.

Folks here get mad at me for saying it but I still think it's not a huge issue, if you are young, new, still learning, play at 1-3 local casinos several times a week (they will give you a name and track your play). You can start playing anonymous at some casinos or after you have been at it for some time.

I got away with it for 5 years, playing rated. Still receive comps at major casino chains outside of my home state.

If you start playing rated, you can last 1-4 years at your local casinos. Good cover, short sessions, don't try to get to even (book losses), regularly check at can club for your won /loss record. Outside of home area, try and play anonymously when you stop getting asked your ID.

You can show them your I'D and still refuse card but unless you are playing higher stakes with max bet over $100, it's okay to get the card. I saved a lot on meals and rooms, often took food home after sessions where I lost cause they comped me a meal.

The only thing you have to lose is your good name.

Just because you have a players card the dealer will still ask for your ID. That makes you more memorable because they will have seen your name twice in a short span of time.

This is completely backwards. DON'T burn your name out while you get your feet wet. It will affect your AP career forever.

P.S. I'm not mad. I learned long ago that Zee is incapable of learning, from others or from experience, so I expect his poor advice to continue.

My AP career is not over, I did not get burned out and despite OSN, can play anywhere. You need to read what I said.

Fact is that you have not played rated or with a card in decades. These days, outside Law Vegas, a majority of players play with a card. A players card instantly and significantly reduced heat for the red chip/low Green Chip player while drawing instant scrutiny when you dont.

It seems hard for you to believe and you are not speaking from personal experiense. I repeat, I he been 5 years of playing rated and I still come to Lax Vegas with comped rooms.

There is a learning curve to managing players cards and there is a lot between the two extremes. One is to never play rated and the other is to always play rated. In between us varying between playing rated and unrated, managing your accounts at the different chains, keeping a win/loss session ration, etc, etc. You don't have to always play rated or vice versa.

Where did you obtain this "fact?"

The majority of players are irrelevant. What matters is what successful APs do.

I agree on this. However, newbie APs shouldn't play rated. Knowing how and when to play rated comes with experience. Many APs have regretted burning out their name before they could play for significant stakes.

21forme is correct, as he generally is. Do not give up any personal information to (any) casino.
You can learn to stay well under the radar if you follow my directions on playing BlackJack.

I think age can be a big factor in determining if one plays rated or not. For someone 22 years old who has 50 years of playing ahead of them you surely don't want to risk your good name. On the other hand a couple of old coots like me or Zee who can hardly get up from the blackjack chair anymore, we don't have much to lose especially if playing low stakes.

Dealer is checking your ID for your DOB and maybe first name. After 30-60 minutes they won't remember anything else. The eye may be able to zoom in on your ID when the dealer is holding it in their hand if they really want to find out who you are. If you play somewhere unrated often enough the pit will make up an account for you whether you want one or not maybe under your real name (if they find it out) or maybe under a nickname they create for you based on what celebrity you most look like or some mannerism you have. Playing as a refusal does not guarantee that the casino doesn't track you unless you're only an occasional visitor to that casino. If you play somewhere often enough they will eventually stop asking you for ID in the pit. By that time, they'll probably have already created an account for you even though you won't be aware of it and won't be able to get any of the comps you're accumulating. Price of being young. Still better to preserve your real name for later in your gambling life when bigger edge opportunities present themselves (if possible).

So, question: State ID of Dept. of State Passport? Which would be preferred (and legal!)
