I think we all need to step back, and ponder "WWLD" (What Would LVBEAR do)?

I think you’ll find that he has different opinions on tipping servers versus tipping dealers

Of course it is rude to serve you while on the phone but you never know what the call for. I was in a similar situation to find out later the person was on the phone with her sister who just had a car accident. I would wait to see if she does it again and then I will take up with the manager directly. The management job is to have a rule for all workers about the use of cell phones at work.

You could say something like, "It surprised me when you were on the phone while serving me. Overall, I think people appreciate a server's undivided attention."
I agree. Maybe she would tell you that her Mom is in the hospital or her son's school called and you just might feel bad for judging her based on one episode. Exploring and then giving constructive criticism is the way to go. Course, if you are one of those AP's who are miserable as a result of the profession they chose, you dont tip that waitress.

I'm opening a restaurant just for you guys' tip $. I'd have an adequate BR in a month! Lol. My understanding is that the average tip is 20% as opposed to the customary 10% of my yute. Be careful as some establishments automatically add 10-20% gratuity to the bill on the receipt. We tip the 20% even at most buffets where the only "service " is the filling and re of drinks. I agree the person odds are is a millennial with the sheeple screen face Zombie eyed i.d.10.t. selfie flash tan. Human intimacy is going extinct.

Interestingly, these days, they even have you sign off your credit card slip on a tablet and it tells exactly how much of your bill is 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% or "other" where you can put a specific amount. Incredible.

Even the hair dressing salon, Sports Clip (a chain here), has these tips. Since the waitress or the hair dresser is waiting for you, its hard to tip other than the suggested amounts.
