Backed off, but no record of it.

7 months ago, I was playing rated, and I had a polite back off (tap on the shoulder, we've been watching you, we think you are an Advantage Player, no more Blackjack at the tables, etc).I called them on the telephone today, and I asked them if I am allowed to play Spanish 21. They looked up my Players Card, and told me that there were no notes, nothing about being asked not to play Blackjack, and that I could play anything that I wanted. Does this make sense?

Yule (how appropriate this time of year, especially if your last name is Log!),

    (A) When you were backed off, were you playing anonymously?

    (B) If so, were you backed off by your real name?

If A and not B, they might not know who they backed off, which would explain why your file is clean.

If not A, then they might not mind you playing Spanish 21 (I had a casino like that for a long time: backed off at BJ, welcome at Sp21), or they might have forgotten to write a note in your file.

In any case, naturally avoid playing when the suit who backed you off is working.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Dog Hand. I was playing rated (using a player's card). And they addressed me with my real name.

I guess they either forgot to put a note in my file, or they intentionally didn't put a note in my file.

Don't play rated, don't call places where you have been backed off and ask if you are allowed to play.

The problem is that you will be recognized (even if no note). I swear no matter what time I play I always run into the same staff

Some places, especially outside of Vegas, have what we call "lifers." At one of these joints that I was flat bet at, I played after a 3+ year break from even stepping inside. It was a typical busy night, but the instant I tried to sneak a green under 3 red chips, the floor turned around and immediately told me "$15 only." Luckily, I got the worst situation of 16 vs 10 and lost. I laughed, "thanked" him for "saving" me $25, finished the last couple of hands in the shoe and left.
