Side Bets Are Ruining The Game

Some casinos now have so many side bets it is ridiculous. Many tables even have more than one side bet.
This is slowing things down so much...it's very difficult to get in enough rounds per hour to make it profitable.
What are your thoughts about this, and ways you deal with it?

Perfect example of casino stupidity. They slow the game down so much with people betting white chips on the side bets, they are net losers, not to mention they are also paying, per table, for the privilege to slow the games down.

Heads up isn't always easy to find...and $100 tables are out of reach with my current bankroll.

exactly, that is well higher limit tables don't have side bets . Even hi limits ploppies won't play them.

I played in a casino that had some regular limit tables with no side bet so they could increase their profits. At least someone in the casino understands what they are doing. I heard they made 4 times as much per table without the side bets slowing rounds per hour to a crawl. Nowadays all businesses seem to be going the way of and is fits all customers rather than try to have a variety of offerings so they can make the most out of all customers' business.

Drives me crazy too. Especially when the ploppy bets some odd amount, say $12.50, on a side bet that pays 2.5:1. Takes forever for the dealer to pay...

And if I ever have trouble not losing the running count, it’s while the dealer is screwing around with the side bets.

Yes all I can think to do is tell as many ploppies that I can that they are losing money on the side bets...why do you think the casinos offer them? I try not to let the dealers/pit hear me. But ploppies get offended, and always say they win on them.

Selective memory for ploppies. That being said, many side bets are beatable. Like Blackjack, they need to be approached with a spread, or simply “shot taking” at the appropriate times.

Many hi limit rooms offer side bets, albeit with higher minimums than the main lower limit pits. They’re some enlightened stores that do not offer side bets, preferring, and rightfully so, to concentrate on hands per hour. Having said that, how can you chastise stores for providing something that their customers want.

Most ploppies tell me I should be playing the side bets because that is the only reason they play. When I see them play I can believe that is their reality that they live. I point out I am winning despite them disagreeing with most of what I do. It is pretty humorous.

Side bets are the reason BJ still thrives in today's pit. HE side bets and the illusion of low HE BSBJ are the reasons casino still offering a decent game to the gamblers. Casino needs to make money.

Well I don't agree with that. Other than slots, blackjack has always been the most popular game in the casino.
If casinos removed some of these ridiculous side bets, blackjack would still be just as popular.
