Playing Black Jack with the mafia

    Hello Everyone!

This is my story of playing in a black Jack tournament with the mafia

    Chapter 1: The Setting

Just south of the equator in a Spanish speaking country there is a casino that decided to host a Black Jack Tournament. I was on vacation and decided i would try my luck against the locals. I had watched the locals play the tables during the days leading up to the tournament and had realized they were fairly inexperienced players and werent very good at gambling. The locals were all very hard looking charcters. face and hand tattoos, eye brow piercings and their clothess were a bit gaudy. giant channel belts, and gucci hats.

    Chapter 2: the Plot

The tournament consisted of a 7 tables with each table having 7 players. these tables were qualifying and the winner would go on to the finals. I paid the 10 dollar buy in and recieved my 20,000 chips. sitting next to me was Fat Joe and to my other side was a guy who resembled the rapper Tyga.
I normally try to get the table to like me with small talk and jokes. but i was way out of my element with these locals. And they werent buying my attempts at fitting in at all. they were giving me a cold shoulder as if i didnt even exist.
The first round of bets goes and Fat Joe and Tyga both go all in. i bet the min. Fat Joe got dealt a 20 and tyga a 13. the dealer showed an 8.
well Fat Joe won and doubled up his chips and Tyga busted out and decided to buy another 20,000 chips for 10 bucks. meanwhile i was betting the minimum which was one lonely chip. the next round goes and Fat Joe miraculously goes all in again and doubles his already giant pile of chips. Tyga busts again and looses all his chips. skip ahead to the penultimate round. and the only people left were me and Fat Joe and his impressive 120,000 chips. i had my original 20,000 give or take 1. so my only option at this point was to buy chips. so I try to look at Fat Joes stack of chips to know how many i needed to buy. Fat Joe decides that this is unfair. and like 5 year old on the play ground he scoops up all his chips and pulls his T shirt out. places the chips on his t shirt and rolls them up forming a pouch. i ask the dealer to please tell him that he cant remove his chips from the table. and the dealer looks at him and decides to do nothing. i say fuck it and buy 100,000 chips. dealer deals. Fat Joe gets bets big about half his chips and busts. lucky break for me. and now we go to the final hand. I bet one lonely chip and fat Joe bets the other half of his chips again. dealer shows a 10 i have a 13 and Fat Joe has a 20. i ask for another card and get an 8 giving me a 21. at this point im starting to sweat and my pulse is racing because im not sure if i had bought enough chips to give me the lead. I also wasnt sure what Fat Joe would do with his pair of 10's based on his erratic betting. and also remeber if he wins this hand e would have about the same number of chips as i have. i was worried he would split the 10's and win double leaving me with less chips than him or that he would simply just win the hand. but he decides to stay with his 20. the dealer draws an Ace! he looses! i also lost but at least i only lost the min bet. he looses all his chips!

    Chapter 3. The finals table
I was happy knowing that i had qualified for the final table. i went outside to grab some starbucks while the other players from the other tables finished up. the host came out and let me know it was time for the finals. I walk in to the casino only to a table with all the players seated except for my empty chair right in between Fat Joe and Tyga. But wait, these guys didnt qualify what the hell is going on? i ask the dealer and she says that some of the other players had obligations and couldnt compete in finals. this sounds a bit shady to me but i brush it off. The dealer then tells Tyga to give back the chips he ad stolen. And Tyga says he didnt steal any chips. the dealer then scolds Tyga as if he were her son and slaps him on the wrist! Tyga like an obedient son takes out 10,000 chips and gives them to the dealer. The dealer then says "and the rest..." Tyga take sout another 20,000 chips that he was hiding in his pocket. The dealer then explains the rules and starts the first round. and Fat Joe goes all in as is his tradition and wins. Tyga for some reason is betting the min. i find this unusual but as it turned out Tyga had been watching me play and realized how to bet. He was copying me! we go 10 rounds and Fat Joe builds an impressive lead to 80,000 chips just buy getting lucky hands. Tyga had got tired of copying me and started betting all his chips and had busted out 4 timmes, and bought back in all 4 times. And now there are about 10 more mafia looking guys who all knew each other standing behind me Fat Joe and Tyga watching what was gonna go down in the final two hands. i wanted to win this tournament so i buy 100 dollars worth of chips to put me comfortably in the lead. this was the last buy in allowed. on the final hand no buy ins are allowed. Fat Joe buy 100 dollars of chips and then Tyga has this look on his face. The type of look Sylvester the cat has when he is about to eat tweaty bird. Tyga reaches into his pocket takes out 5 chips each worth 100 dollars and throws them across the air at the dealer and one of them hits her in the face. immediately chaos ensues. the security guards rush in the dealer starts scolding Tyga. Fat Joe is laughing histerically. the 10 guys standing behind me are all cheering on Tyga. haullering and chanting. I dont know why but the dealer tells Tyga that was his last warning and he better behave if he ever wants to step foot in the casino again. i have a measley 120,000 chips now compared to Tyga's 1.5 million chips. but that was the last buy in, my wallet only had another 200 bucks. and i was getting the feeling that Tyga's pocket ran a lot deeper than that. so i give up. and just play with the chips i have. Tyga took a solid 10 min deciding how much to bet. you could just tell he wanted to go all in. he had that look on his face. after the gruelling 10 min of me hoping he would place all his chips in he places the min single chip bet. great, i loose no matter what. as expected the dealer deals the final 2 hands i double up the first one to get to 240,000 chips. and i go all in on the last hand. it didnt matter though. Tyga had already bet the min again and was sitting on 1,499,998 chips. i got dealt a 13 against the dealers 10. i draw another card and bust. Tyga lets out a scream and slaps the table like a donkeys ass. all the towers of chips fall over and as he jumps in the air.

    Chapter 3: the resolution
As it turns out i actually had won 100 dollars for coming in 3rd place. Fat Joe with his luck had gotten 2nd place. and Tyga had won. Tyga came up to me and gave me my winnings with a smirk on his face. I said good game man and he said "yah" i asked him how much he had won he said the pot was 1,400 bucks of which he got to keep 1,000. and that was the end. i left happy that i didnt win. I dont hink iwould have made it 10 feet out of the casino alive. and thats the end

That all depends if you did win and were walking out the door with a buddy named Three.

Good story, but MWP would have told it better, especially if he had to take a leak

Interesting story. I've never heard of a South American* casino stocking a $300,000 chip. I've seen, 100k, the rare 200k, the common 500k, yet never 300k.
( You state 5 of Tygas chips = 1.5 million, 1 of these chips = 100 US dollars. Suggesting an exchange rate of 3000:1, typical of Colombia and Peru. I know for a fact you're not talking about Colombia So perhaps Peru, or other country further south?)

I do have one issue with the story, why do you assume players with tattoos and bad manners, who sport brand name clothes like Gucci, are from the mafia? You've probably spent more time around Mafia playing in North America than you have in any of your time blundering around South America. I find this post excessively stereotypical of a gringo who thinks Hollywood movies equate to real life. Now this is just my two cents, I like the drama you created with the story, not a bad read, but like any film, I can't help but laugh at the absurdity.

That was a great story, if they were not a little Mafia they were at least operating that way, especially making it to the final table without qualifying and not getting kicked out after Swiping chips,I would say there was a good chance you read that right , Hollywood don’t show characters in the mafia dressed that way in North America and I’m sure that’s not where you got that, I think fringe stereo typed you on that one, I guess they could’ve been corporate CEOs wearing those $500 hats with nose piercing, There would’ve been problems if you would’ve won, seeing that they wasn’t supposed to be at the final table anyway, That was a very well wrote descriptive story,

Stereotyping is possible. I learnt my lesson when, one summer in Sturgis, South Dakota, at the annual Harley Davidson bike event, I met doctors, professionals and more, dressed up in leather, bandanas and motorcycle gear including chaps. I was shocked to learn from a couple of folks from New York, wealthy folks, that they have their Harleys shipped their for the weekend and they are wall street folks.
