Can you get a players card without showing ID?

I keep hearing interviews with very successful players who indicate they don't always play under their real name when playing rated. But I thought casinos required ID to get a players card, and I've never heard of players getting fake IDs for this purpose (since we don't do anything illegal).

Can someone explain how this works?

Side note: what is the correct spelling of "players card" as far as apostrophes go?

Your best shot is to get go on a junket and get your junket organizer to get your players card for you. They can't be expected to show your ID to card services.

i got one last year at a property i won't name.
the pit was bothering me about getting a card and even said "with your play you can get a free room".
So I said I didn't have id with me.The pit asked me my name and adresss which I made up. She then walked me to the front desk so I could check into the free room and went to the players club with me so I could set up a pin number on the players card so I could get free food and stuff.

I don't think there's one right answer to this. But, I'd probably go with no apostrophe: players card.

If you consider it a card belonging to a player, then it would be player's card. If you consider it a card belonging to players, in general, then it could be a players' card. But, I prefer to consider it as a card FOR players, in which case the structure is analogous to Veterans Day, which, officially, has no apostrophe, as it is a day FOR veterans, rather than "belonging TO" veterans. Do you see the distinction?

Keep in mind that when you hand over your driver's license to the players club representative the casino now has all the information that was on the license. That includes your photo. Some are okay with that and some are not. Be informed.

    ROTFL

Are you suggesting the casino doesn't get a photo of you as soon as you step into the casino, or start playing at any table game. What playing rated gives them is the other information on your drivers license. If you play unrated and your play interests them you get a nice photo or photos in a file that either has your name, if they took the small amount of trouble it takes to get it in this information age, or some other name that they made up for you. While they are at it they search the databases for your picture. If you have such a file your play will go into that file every time you play. Many people I know that play unrated were called by name by the Floor. I thought it was pretty naive for them to think that was something not to expect.

I'm not suggesting anything. I was referring to them scanning the license. People do apply for cards and they may want to use an alternate form of identification. The only time I'll show my license is to a police officer. Glad I amused you. Now go back to rolling on the floor. Maybe you'll find a couple of chips there.

No chips, just dog hair. It was just two posts in a row acting like you keep the casino from getting your photo by not showing ID. With cameras literally everywhere in the casino that just seems like a ridiculous notion.
