    Poll: Lifetime Blackjack Winnings

On another blackjack forum a professional blackjack player posted he just crossed the million dollar mark in blackjack winnings in less than 15 years. I think this is a pretty big deal. I won't mention the forum name or the professional because I have noticed my posts get deleted by Norm even if I mention his initials so I won't say any more.

However, this got me thinking about how many others of us have reached a milestone in our lifetime blackjack winnings so I decided to do another poll. Of course, a lot depends on how long you have been playing and if you are recreational player or make your living playing. I won't attempt to distinguish between the two in the poll.

This poll does not show your handle.

Would be much more interesting if people mentioned the bankroll they played on.

Making 10k $ is not a big deal if you play 200$ hands, it’s much greater if you play 10$ hands

I am not saying what I made but i grew my BR from a very modest on to a huge BR just from winnings. I played recreationally as a counter for several decades before that but spent any winnings and didn't keep a BR. When I became serious I started with a shoestring BR. Well I had a $10K BR but took $800 out to test my unusual approach and grew that into living off my winnings for a few years after hitting a monster BR. Since I was using experimental techniques never used before I was very cautious. My plan was to grow a BR to $100K and turn pro. After I made $20K in a few months I put the rest of the $10K BR that wasn't part of the experiment into my retirement account. When I made $60K it was clear using my swing reduction techniques would allow me to turn pro with $60K rather than $100K. The next two years or so is history. It may cost some in EV but the not having long losing runs and having very long winning runs makes it worth the cost. Sims won't verify the short term as all stats are long term stats. Playing both ways says that the difference is more apparent than the diffence between night and day. I don't know what my EV is because the sims can't do all the things I do with information. I use a sort of playall approach that uses limited wonging but I compare my results to sims that only play advantage situations while wonging in place. I am always about 15% over that EV for any period with enough hours. The difference between playing in a casino and on a computer is important to results. Using discernment when confronted by dynamic changing conditions in a casino is important for for success in actual play.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage.
