    Blackjack sites worth reading ?

    Hello peeps,

As you guys are in BJ for a looooong while ahead of me, I was wondering if you could handle me some good websites, forums or anything, related to BJ.

This forum (blackjacktheforum) is definitely a gold mine. I even spend hours reading oooooold posts, it’s really thrilling to see the amount of informations you can get !

what about Blackjackinfo ? It is worth browsing ?
i’ve seen the name of BJ21 forum coming on the top pretty often, but it looks like the forum is not that much active compared to this one ... your thoughts on this one ?

I’d take any advice you could give me regarding websites that are worth spending time reading !

    thanks !

Subscribe to BJ21 and read the Posts of the Month section. If you think this place is a gold mine, that subforum is a diamond mine. There's nothing that comes close on a per post basis. Activity is pretty sparse otherwise, since the sale of the site last year, but you can decide if you want to remain a member.

Blackjackinfo doesn't get a lot of activity but if you like the old posts here, you'll like them there. Some of us are members there.

when you say subscribe, you mean a paying subscribing ? Like on this site ?

I’ll be honest, I don’t have a paying acount here. Are the subforums for subscribers-only really worth the deal, or is everything pretty much here ?

Wizard of Vegas is not an AP site or a blackjack site. However, there is a poster called Romes who has written some easy to understand blackjack articles that would benefit new counters.

I also recommend BJ21. That was the first forum I joined and I learned so much there. I hate to report that activity is currently pretty low there right now, but the archived posts alone are worth the monthly membership.

Here’s my take on paid BJ products (this is directed to all new players):

I’ve never understood why new players (or even many intermediate players with more than a couple years experience) are so reluctant to spend any money whatsoever for good information.

Example: I think Norm’s software (CV Series) is invaluable. Anyone who takes this game even slighty serious should own it. Anyone who doesn’t just boggles my mind. I also can’t understand why many people are so unwilling to pay a small monthly subscription fee to sites like BJ21 or BJA, in order to access such amazing content. I think having a paid subscription here is worth it too. The subscription costs is peanuts and it’s great for new players because it gives you the ability to privately message people, which leads to networking opportunities. Many posters are not willing to post certain things publicly. I also don’t understand people who are not willing to purchase good books. Does everyone realize you can purchase Professional Blackjack by S Wong AND Blackbelt in Blackjack by Snider for less than $20 (both books together!)? Another one is players expect to be spoon fed regarding game conditions, but they’re unwilling to buy a $17 copy of CBJN or scout the casino themselves.

As advantage players, many of us are willing to gamble hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Some even tens of thousands. So I could never understand why many new aspiring APs are pretty cheap in this regard. What do you think the EV is on some of the best resources you can buy for this game?

BTW... I’m not making this post directly to Letangs. I’m directing this message towards all new players in general. It’s just an observation I’ve made over the years on these forums.

I bought several books tbh. I own maybe 12 or 13 (unsure, I have to «*count*» haha!).
A monthly fee like here (3$ or something?) is indeed nothing. But if I’m not mistaken, on BJ21 it’s far more expensive.
The CV suite is not «*expensive*» but is not cheap either, at least for someone who’s not stacked. Will a beginner really need all these informations ? I’m not quite sure ...

I’m having a macbook anyhow, as I don’t want to bother running a windows simulator, for now CV suite is out of question. I’m wondering about the iPhone CVBJ app tho ... it’s not quite expensive and could be of a great use especially for someone like me who spends more time on phone than computer. Has anyone tested it and can tell me if it’s anything comparable to the CVBJ windows software ? Or isn’t it worth it to spend money on the app and better go directly to the « windows*» version ?

Ryemo's post is spot on. His 7 line paragraph seems to describe one of the many things a currently banned member does wrong

However, for full disclosure, I'm not a paid member here because I find there's way too much noise on this forum, and after more than 10 years as a BJ21 Green Chip member, I recently did not renew my subscription. I've been doing this a long time and at my stage, I find these forums more entertainment value than educational. A new player is a different story.

BJ21 info, including prices, here: https://bj21.com/
They sometimes offer a free trial for a month. Email Al and ask.

At present I think this site blackjacktheforum is the best out there. BJ21 use to be the best, but after it was sold and new shit software was installed many of the members have left or are just too old for anything to do with blackjack anymore. Remember BJ21 was around since about 1996.

Blackjackinfo also has a rich history and has the potential to be a great site once again. It has a great basic strategy engine and a practice trainer. Speaking of basic strategy "Hit or Stand" has a nice speed game to test how fast you can play basic strategy. Of course you should always score 100%.

At one time you could buy Hal Marcus blackjack simulator for $39. It was called Blackjack 6-7-8 by Stickysoft. I believe it is now off the market. I think it was Hal Marcus who first came out with risk adverse indexes.

As for paying $36 for the paid section of this site, really all the action is on the free portion. The best thing about the paid section is probably the ability to private message other members. However, if you get banned you will lose all access to your private correspondence. Maybe just as good or better is to have a hotmail email account. I have blackjack emails going back many, many years on my midwestbjplayer email account with Yahoo.

All the best stuff will be in the subscriber forums.

At the risk of being called a spammer, I would like to suggest that if you're serious about blackjack, you should read my blog. I'm a 25-year Casino surveillance veteran, retired, and I have a lot to say about casino gambling. Check out my blog.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
