Question about Casinos for BJ tables

    Hello peeps,

This might sound a really stupid question for those of you who have an heavy experience at playing BJ in Casinos, but despite being in Casinos a few time, I have never really taken a seat at a BJ table, I'm expecting to do that in a short while.

Anyway, I'm still in the learning process, and I was wondering something....

Does the dealer constantly announce the total of your hand ? I have seen that it's done on a few Youtube videos, but I wanted to know if it's "by the rules" that a dealer must always speak loud about the total of any player's hand, no matter the Casino ?

That would quite help for any beginner I guess, so you don't have to count (even tho it's easy) the total of your hand, and therefore you can directly apply BS or deviations with the patterns you know, and focus on your counting strategy. At least it would help me I think, especially when you're not experienced enough to do multi-tasks in such conditions.

Thanks to whoever will answer me

    See you

Simple, just stand there and watch at your local casinos, it is vary by dealers or casinos. no one answer fit all. Also if you request the dealer would say out aloud your hand total.

Ok I see, it's not something that all dealers do anyway. I think it's good if they do tho !
Local casinos are 2 hours away from home so I will wait before I can actually play properly !

Don't wait to play blackjack until everything is mastered. Once you learn basic strategy venture out and give it a try. If you never played blackjack before, why spend all this time and effort on something you might not even like. Try it!

When I meant "playing properly" I meant mastering BS perfectly. Sorry it wasn't so clear.

It varies by dealer. Many counters, especially newer counters find the calling out of numbers while they count to cause mistakes keeping the count. It is good practice to have someone call out numbers while you practice. This is not for speed drills but real game type drills. It is easy to keep count while everything is going lightning speed. It is the downtime between changing the counts where you can mess up keeping the count. That is why many are more error prone with simpler counts. There is just too much time for their mind to wander. Anyway in real casino play the dealer is calling out totals when you are processing one card at a time. That is when your mind is more prone to distraction due to it being fairly idle.

I disagree. When I started, I read and practiced with CVBJ for 6 months before venturing into the casino. Even so, I recall losing the count a few times when I first went live.

If you want to play a $5 game for an hour, by all means do so, but if your goal is to play a +EV game, learn what you need to know first.

Casinos let you bring BS sheet to table and let you look at it when play your hands. Just make sure BS is for game you play such as number of decks and rules. https://www.blackjackinfo.com/blackj...rategy-engine/ Better yet get BJA3 book. Get there in slow time, like late night or early morning or weekdays so dealer can help you out. Avoid weekend or holidays.

I agree with 21forme. The odd progress assessment can be done with a casino visit but you don't even need to make a bet. You can just act like one player is you and play in your mind. Two things hurt new players. One is a lack of experience and the other is a lack of BR. Save your money and make mistakes with the software and just make a visit to the casino once every 6 weeks to see what you need to work on to be ready when you think you are ready to play. Depleting your BR with expenses and negative EV play isn't going to help you outrace ruin when you are ready to play.

I think he just meant to go and play just to get a sense of the game (playing BS for ex). Not wasting hours to master a game that one will perhaps not like at all (we never know, but Casinos is a very special place, not everyone like).

I don't need BS sheet, except for camouflage maybe but that's about it. I'm learning BS to precisely immediately take a decision without the need of any document. Having the BS sheet seems an error to me, because you'll be tempted to look at it "just in case" even if you don't need it. Makes your learning slower imo.
