Thread: How to bet a lot and not play rated?

Question How to bet a lot and not play rated?

If you are a high roller, are you supposed to play rated to look natural?

I find a lot of people suggest to never play rated to increase longevity, but when you grow bigger, start to bet two hands of $800, it's inevitable that the floor person will offer you player's card. In this case what would you respond to look not suspicious?

My excuse is always that I'm just in town for the night and that it's not worth the trouble of getting a players card made up. Although this won't work if you are a regular...

I tell'em the food here is unhealthy and fattening. Why would I want your meal comps?

You play $800 a hand and visit the sAme casino, if you do not get a card, they identify you through other means (from your license plate, facial recognition software and run it) and all you do is lose your comps. This is especially if you play outside Law Vegas.

Might as well accept the comps. At that stakes, it's just a matter of how successful you are. If you are, plan to travel.

Disagree. If you’re playing $800/hand, then you’re going it get backed off regardless, rated or unrated; it’s just a matter of time. So if you go in and play rated, you might only get 1 hr of play before getting tapped. But if you play unrated, you may get more time. Maybe 10 hrs... who knows? In that event, would getting a comped cheese burger be worth sacrificing that 9 hrs of play?

Example: I had one place I was playing earlier this year. I was pretty aggressive with them, betting 1x25 to 2x500, which was table max on all their tables except for two. If I could get a seat on their $1,000 max table (it was sometimes closed), I was spreading 1x25 to 2x700. I lasted 3 trips there and got a total of 21.5 hrs of play. When I finally got backed off and had to CTR to cash out (because I stockpiled their chips and rarely cashed out), they updated my OSN profile. So obviously, this casino is an observer and contributor. If I would have started off playing rated, it’s very possible I would have been backed off within my first hour, because all they would have had to do is search my name.

There's a lot you can say:

    1) My wife doesn’t approve of my gambling. A free buffet isn’t worth the fight with my wife.

    2) I had an issue with identity theft in the past and it really screwed up my credit. I don’t want to sign up for anything.

    3) I’m not from here and won’t be able to use the comps. I’m just passing through.

    4) The last time I signed up for something, the junk mail never ended.

    5) I live with my parents and if they find out I’m gambling, they’ll make me move out of the house (this might only work if you look in your early to late 20s lol).

    Etc., etc.

    See? It’s not that hard.

    6) I snuck out on a guy's trip. My wife thinks I am on a work trip. I can't risk her finding out we went here as she knows I have never been here and I said I was going elsewhere. It would probably lead to a divorce and me losing half of my assets if and when she found out. No way in hell I would ever take that risk by getting a players card.

San Josa Bella, this is by far the best excuse. You’ll probably only get half way through this speech and the pit boss will leave and never ask you another question the rest of your season. He’ll probably never want to venture by your table, afraid you might start up with some lengthy discussion about something he could care less about. Great idea Three!

Tell the critter that you’ll be pleased to consider the merits of a loyalty card, but first, let him know (true or not) that you are a financial planner specializing in life insurance, further stating that you would be pleased to provide a no charge indepth analysis of his/her current situation.

Might try that myself when I’m in a new locale

That are some decent ideas, thanks. Junk mail and family issue are good excuses.
I just heard your episode on Gambling with an Edge, 500/hr EV in middle of nowhere is unheard of, haven't seen that kind of EV yet.
Is it realistic to go to the cashier multiple times a day to cash out your stockpile, $4000 at a time? or if you're not travel alone, let some fellow friends cash out some.
Is OSN profile sort of public record? I never know you can see the update of the profile, I thought only casinos which subscribe to their service can. Isn't that private information?

Freightman, I actually liked that one. I do play unrated from time to time when I venture into green and black territory at a casino I don’t frequent often. Yes, I do this sometimes. I’m going to try this one next time I play unrated. It should be interesting. Every once in a while you come up with a good idea. Thanks!
