Thread: How to bet a lot and not play rated?

If not spreading crazily soloing double deck, but team play 6 deck game, I assume the action would last longer. If planning to visit a shop multiple times in a short period, should the BP play rated to be natural or try to find multiple excusses and never get a player's card?

So if you go in and play rated, you might only get 1 hr of play before getting tapped. But if you play unrated, you may get more time. Maybe 10 hrs... who knows? In that event, would getting a comped cheese burger be worth sacrificing that 9 hrs of play?

Example: I had one place I was playing earlier this year. I was pretty aggressive with them, betting 1x25 to 2x500, which was table max on all their tables except for two. If I could get a seat on their $1,000 max table (it was sometimes closed), I was spreading 1x25 to 2x700. I lasted 3 trips there and got a total of 21.5 hrs of play. When I finally got backed off and had to CTR to cash out (because I stockpiled their chips and rarely cashed out), they updated my OSN profile. So obviously, this casino is an observer and contributor. If I would have started off playing rated, it’s very possible I would have been backed off within my first hour, because all they would have had to do is search my name.
Most of those excuses dont fool anyone. They will watch you closely anyway. When I used one of those, I was told that no one will find out, that they will block any communication and I would just have to swipe the card on their machines for the comps.

Also, a lot of the consequences of playing rated mentioned here are by pros who have not played rated at all or not in decades. As an example, I am in OSN, I play rated and I will be in Las Vegas this month for 3 nights of comped rooms. I can get comped rooms at 4 different chains in Las Vegas, one provides 3 nights and the other three provide 2 nights. Add that to a few comped meals and its a lot of EV.

Ryemo and other pros belittle playing rated and say crap like you get a cheeseburger for a comp. My max bet is only $200 and I get comped rooms for 3 nights, discounted tickets, comped food and $25 to $75 table play twice a month.

They say that data base has horrendous consequences, what consequences? I am still playing. The databases seem to have so many people on it, placed by so many casinos, that its meaningless.

The biggest crap is that you get more heat playing rated, that you get 9 hours playing unrated and less playing rated. I usually pull out my players card to lose the heat. Low level pit guys push the backing off to higher ups when playing rated. They simply note your buy in and opening bet and move on. They figure that your card (mine were issued 4 years ago) and having played for so many years means that you are not a counter and they already have an excuse if you win.

These days, I often tell dealer I dont have one but if I know I am in the hole, that I am to have a losing session, I have often found my card. Get a card, play a short stint, go away. On another shift, or other casinos, play unrated but I would develop a chain for comps.

I just heard your episode on Gambling with an Edge, 500/hr EV in middle of nowhere is unheard of, haven't seen that kind of EV yet.
Is it realistic to go to the cashier multiple times a day to cash out your stockpile, $4000 at a time? or if you're not travel alone, let some fellow friends cash out some.
Is OSN profile sort of public record? I never know you can see the update of the profile, I thought only casinos which subscribe to their service can. Isn't that private information?
Of course $500 hr is possible in the middle of nowhere. I have seen way more than that. But since I was a chicken shit, I only obtained about $428 an hour over a very long day. Oh, do you think a population of only 172 folks qualifies as being in the middle of no where? Do you know what it is like to try to shove 60 blacks into your pocket. Oh yeah, the cage cashier calls the pit anytime a payout is more than $400.

If you have 60 blacks in your pocket the pit already knows about it. Do you think they aren't paying attention to their black chips? LoL

Yeah, a lot of times they'll tell you that they can put you on the "do not mail list." I usually tell them that that's what the last casino told me and they sent mail by accident anyway. That usually shuts them up.

Honestly, most of my EV on shoe games is between $200 to $300/hr ON AVERAGE. It really depends on the cuts though. After skimming through my notes, I've played some games where my hourly rate was $150/hr and $360/hr was my highest for SHOE games. But DD is a whole different story. If you find DD with decent rules and a good cuts, you can easily achieve $400 to $500/hr with top bets ranging 2x500 or higher. I had one casino that I was playing this year that let me play about 45 hours over the course of several trips before back off. My EV on that game was about $400/hr. I won't say it was in the middle of nowhere, but it wasn't a big casino town. I'll leave it at that. Casinos are unpredictable. Some places will back you off in minutes. Some will let you play a few hours. Some will let you play 10 hrs. Some might let you play several trips over the course of 2 or 3 months. You just don't know. And trust me, if there is place that will let you play for a long time, no one is openly sharing that information. In my opinion, you're more likely to find really tolerant (or stupid) casinos in the middle of nowhere, as opposed to bigger casino towns.

Depends on the circumstance. Some places are easier to cash out than others. If it's a casino that I know I'm going to play a lot over the next 6 months, then I'll stock up on chips and slowly cash out some here or there. But I'll hang on to most of them until the casino has finally made the decision to back me off, then I'll just cash everyone out at once, regardless of how much I've stored in my inventory. If it's a place that I don't plan on going back to for a while, I'll either try to find some friends to help cash, sell them off to friends who I know will play there later, or just suck it up and just give up my name when I'm done. If the amount is small, then I'll make sure not to exceed any thresholds and try my best to not give up ID.

No, OSN is not public. But just like anything else private, there will always be leaks in some shape or form...

Not going to debate whether you should or shouldn't play rated, since that's more of a personal choice and everyone is in different shoes. Although I'll say (IMO) you shouldn't play rated, in general, if you're betting fewer than $1,000 aggregate per round.

As far as avoiding getting a card, one route may be to just tell them you're not interested in getting any freebies or handouts, you can pay your own way, as if them giving you free crap is offensive or insulting as if you can't pay for that stuff.

Another is to say you aren't supposed to be at the casino, wife will kill you when random crap comes in the mail showing you've obviously been to the casino. If they say they can disable you from getting stuff in mail, say you've tried that in the past but stuff still came and you don't trust them....the extra free crap isn't worth it if my wife gets all mad....etc.

I've heard of people using the - that's how the CIA tracks you, you're just a number in the government database and they keep tabs on you to poison your water and keep us stupid, they pour chemtrails on us from airplanes to dumb down the public, no way in hell am I giving the government more information on me (basically sound like a crazy conspiracy person). Ideally you annoy the guy and he stays away from you. But could backfire because he may think you're up to something suspicious because you don't want anyone to know about you. I've never tried it, but if you think you can pull it off and it'll work, do what you think is best.

    How about this:

    7) No, thanks.

    Works for me every time!

They really didn't know how many black chips I had in my pocket because the guy next to me actually had more in his pocket. I will have to give them credit for honoring their 7:2 game for as long as they did. Never again have they done something as stupid as this. Damn, come to think of it I do miss that place.

That's what I used all the time cause my English was not that good. It worked but the pit boss kept explaining the benefits of the player's card to me.

Only works for me about 95% of the time. Better than trying to remember some convoluted story.

I wonder how this would work -- "No thanks, last time I got flyered all over town".
