Actually there is no difference on S17 or H17 on soft 17 against the dealer's up card of 3. Basic strategy is to double regardless if S17 or H17.

You have a max bet of $500 out, do you follow the card or?
I've seen clueless people all the time consulting basic strategy cards and then not following what it says. I asked about it and they say they just want to know what is supposedly the right play and see if their gut tells them better. Or they say a another version, I just wanted to know what it said to do, but that doesn't mean I agree with it or will do it. Saying these cards are made by the casinos and shouldn't be expected to be good advice is also a common ploppyism.

I agree with T3. Half the time people have BS cards on the table, it's not for the rules of the game they're playing.

    nighterfighter,

I know you were making a statement more than looking for responses, but here’s an opinion:

    1) You can bring your BS card with you, but what will you do if/when you need to deviate from strategy? For that reason, I might avoid bringing the BS card to the table.

    2) If someone asks me for advice, I usually just tell them “meh... I’m not sure. It’s up to you.” Leave it at that.

I actually was looking for responses.

It seems the general consensus is to do as you stated, not bring the card because of deviations, and just let ploppys ploppy-on.

    Thanks everyone!

In the end does it even matter? We are splitting hairs on so many of these plays. Okay yes for the math junkies it does, but... Just sayin' as far as cover? blah blah
