Believe it or not. I think like Zee on a lot of things. My primary goal in playing blackjack is enjoyment. I can get that same enjoyment if playing $5 min blackjack or $25 min blackjack. If I played $25 min I doubt I would last long at some casinos, but red chip is often tolerated. Like Zee, I play rated at most casinos and it has been worth it for me to play rated. By the way, I still think a hundred dollars is a lot of money.

Now my wife doesn't have to ask me if I won or lost on a trip. She can tell by how crabby I am when I walk in the door. Yes, I can manipulate short term results to some extent at the expense of long term results. I don't advise this as the best way to play, but I'm human and have human emotions. Yes, my average loss is always more than my average win probably due to short term manipulation. Many times in the last half hour of play I would have won hundreds more if I wasn't conservative.

Now for this year, my average loss is $50 more than my average win, but I have won 82% of the times I played.

No wonder you are A millionaire! You did say that about a year ago, or did you not?

Mine does, I never tell her. No bonus means either a loss or results less than ideal. $500 house vig payment means I did okay. $1000 bonus I did well, or maybe not quite good enough to pay 1k, but that some other goal was achieved.

82% win rate where average win and loss are comparable translates into results well above EV. Now, if you can reduce average loss to it is below average win, that intensifies the result even further.

Bosox, I admire you and most of the pros who enjoy beating the casinos, that's fine. However, some full time pros can be real nasty (more so on BJ21 and a bit less here because Norm has been sending the message not to attack anyone personally), like they have a lot of pent-up anger in them. Most of these, I suspect, play big bucks and max bets and while that can earn them a lot more money, the times the variance goes the other way, they get on forums and get their hostilities out on anyone who expresses a different view.

Over the years, I have learnt my limits and how a bad day at BJ affects me. I ensure that BJ does not affect my life outside the casino by placing loss limits on my game and I adhere to them strictly. This sometimes means walking away from a positive shoe (it helps with logevity and act as well) or walking away after losing a set amount of max bets even with a high TC left. On my trips, I pre-determine what would make the trip worth it and when I reach that figure, I will do my best to return home with it. For instance, on a recent 4 day trip, I had decided that I would be okay with a $1k win, feel pretty good with anything over $1.5k. After 2 days, I was up $4k. I then went down to $1.5k and I quit about 7 hours before my flight back. I could have played a few more hours but TO ME, the risk to a nice return trip and family was not something I wanted to risk.

No, I never said I was a millionaire. What I said is if I took my pension as a lump sum, I would have been close. I took my pension as an annuity instead. Right now pension, social security, and 401(k) payments are increasing my checking account balance faster than I'm spending it and that is a nice situation to be in. Who knows how long this will be the case as a health problem could change my financial situation in a second.

I will probably have to increase my draw down of my 401(k) in the future to keep up with inflation, but from Dec 2016 to Dec 2017 my 401(k) actually increased in value by about $13,000 thanks to a good stock market. I'm pretty sure this good stock market will not continue.

I have not shoveled my roof for four years now, but I was out there clearing snow from my path and porch as it was coming down from the roof. This last year I had to pay $176 to get my roof shoveled, and another $147 come spring to get some damaged shingles repaired. Did I mention I think $100 is still a lot of money.

MWP, you should be ashamed of yourself for posting ploppy voodoo crap like this. You've been playing long enough to know better.
