Going to vegas for first time as a counter. How to avoid heat?

Sorry if these are too much questions. Just a bit paranoid.

Should I ever split 10s versus 5/6 or would that draw way too much attention?

Say the count started at +4, but then at the end I pushed with the dealer and the count is now -3. Should I go back to minimum bet if say I placed 4x the unit of the minimum? Or would this draw too much attention and I should leave whatever my pushed bet was?

What other things I should do or worry about?

    Thanks guys!

This is your first trip and you have a bankroll for $50 min games? First of all, I wouldn't play more than a $5 minimum if it's your first trip. Second, I wouldn't play rated in Vegas. Third, you're way too worried about heat: the heat from ten-splitting is completely overrated. You have to spread your bets and play correctly to get an edge: don't throw money away in the hopes that it will get you longevity.

Focus on comportment, don't camp out at the same game for hours, and don't make any mistakes

You could also wong out and wait until the next shoe if the count goes negative enough.

Just have fun and be relaxed. You'll be fine as long as you have the BR, mental capacity, and patience.

I'd like to ask a related question. Say there are two 2D tables, one with limit $5-500, the other with $50-5000, all the other rules/conditions are identical (including pen). How should one choose to play between the two games (assuming BR is sufficient for both)? Can I assume that the latter will be watched more? For playing each of the games, will the strategy be somewhat different?

your going to hate yourself for doing this trust me i have experience in this area.. Your backround is probably of one like a gambler becuase no non gambler who just started to learn counting is going to want to risk that much money at experienmenting something new. You prob played blackjack before at these levels so you figure hey, i can count a little bit now so ill do better. I used to play blackchips before i was a counter so i def have a gambler in me that i needed to learn to put to sleep inorder to be an AP. My advice is play at station properties red chip double deck games to learn.

let me say , i did exactly what you are questioning doing and i want to tell you how it went. The first time i counted in a casino was at Treasure islands 50 dollar double deck game . my spread was 1x50 to 2x300. Backed off playing rated on my real name. I kept going to all the 50 dollars stip double deck games and basically got backed off 6 places in my first trip using my real name. This was a mistake that could easily been avoided. Casinos don't do the best job at catching counters but the will nab you 100% on your frist trip ESPECIALLY AT VEGAS DOULBLE DECK 50 MIN.

if you stick with this AP thing and there is some serious cash that could be made. But the biggest asset you have is your face your name. DON'T WASTE IT FOR A FIRST TRIP WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOUR DOING AND PROBABLY OVERBETTING YOUR ROLL

Take this post with love..... this is a huge mistake i made and i don't want to see someone make the same mistake...

luckly i can play in all these places again because time has passed but i can't use my real name because of this incident. Please take3 this post seriously.....

if your a gambler just looking to have fun... play with red chips, have fun and don't worry about the comps.. it will save you alot of money in the long run.

He doesnt live in vegas, he's just going on a trip. Shouldn't he just operate w/zero cover and go to a different casino when backed off? And play unrated? If he ever goes back, they wont know who he is...unless he's going back all the time.
