I rememer playing a casino that closed the table I had just walked away from, even though I had left plaques on the felt. Talk about heat!

Now here is a warning. On several occasions I have taken a long break and when I came back to the table my chips were gone. The pit crew chewed my ass out for being gone so long, and then they told me security has taken my chips to the cashier's cage and I would have to go there to get them back. Another reason to not leave a lot of chips on the table and to know how much you do leave on the table. Never had a problem getting my chips back at the cashier's cage. After a couple of times of this didn't even bother to go to cashier's cage right away. I would just buy in again and sit down if an open seat and claim I was only gone for less than 15 minutes.
    Thanks MNH. Good info.

Since my OP I've developed a "no frills" spreadsheet with chart to quickly estimate the time before the next shuffle when I wong out. (Note: I've included the .jpg on my phone so I can reference it while looking like I'm reading a text while going to the bathroom.)

    Spreadsheet inputs include:

    # decks playing
    # decks penetration
    # other players
avg # cards played per hand

FYI here is the chart from that spreadsheet...Time Before Next Shuffle.jpg

Fake phone calls and acting etc. It should be easier than that. Here's one: in summer it won't work but for the rest of the year bring a jacket. Leave the jacket on the chair and take your chips with you for your (real or fake) washroom visit. Second, if you do not bet sports, it's easy to make it look like you do. Many casinos have sporting events on TVs in the casino. Make it look like you are following the game on TV. At the negative count, just say "I have to see what's going on in the xxx game. I will be back in a minute or two". Many dealers and pit guys bet sports so they will understand. Lastly, don't look like a robot who doesn't care if they win or lose. Get pissed when you lose. I have a rule I never wong out after a winning hand; I wait until I lose two in a row. With the negative count, I'm betting the minimum so not much is lost. Following the second straight loss, give the obligatory eye roll and shake your head in disgust, pick up your chips and leave.

a few weeks ago i left a negative shoe to go redeem some free slot play on video poker.
when i went to cash out the machine said it was out of printer paper. by the time someone actually came to put in new paper about 10 mins had past. then for some reason they had to reboot the machine. i was gone from the bj table for half an hour and nobody said anything.

I have had some casinos hold spots for hours for me. One of these casinos no longer welcomes my play.

Are they still holding the spot though?

You know how poorly different entities in the casino communicate. It wouldn't surprise me. LoL

How tolerant are casinos with cell phones at the table?

Had a laughably moronic ploppy other day (that's a whole other story), but he was getting mad at me for regularly sitting out hands (when count was negative of course) saying I was ruining the table. I just held phone below level of table so they wouldn't worry about filming or anything and said "sorry i have to respond to this email" acting like it was important. Did it a few times when count was low saying "god my boss is annoying" acting agitated. Then "ok sorry im done" when count rose. But can you get away with this at higher limit tables or are they strict with cell phones?

At the el cortez they won't let you use your phone at the table even if you are not playing (ie. Just watching or even quickly in between shuffles)

Most of the downtown casinos seem to have similar rules but have never seen it enforced as strictly as at the cortez.

Higher level tables do not allow mid shoe entry so if you drop out, you have to wait till next shoe.

I've been at NMSE tables where they allow you to go back and forth from one hand to two, and some that do not allow it. You need to try to get back in to see what the real rules are.
