Looking for Information on Kewadin Casinos in Eastern U.P. of MI

It has been years since I played there. The reports I have received is their games have gone to hell. I'm told most of their blackjack games are now csm. However, I also been told there are not enough csm machines to go around so some are still hand shuffled. I'm wondering how many normal blackjack games if any can be found at either the Soo or St Ignace on a weekday or a Friday.

Here are my CBJN reports on Kewadin from way back in 2003 which would be a good baseline. These rules didn't change for many years. Any changes in rules?

CBJN report for Kewadin Casino (I), Christmas MI. Conditions as of 2003.
    1 table, 2 deck, pen 0.7, min $5, max $100, rules s17, d10, ls, hide, nm, sc
4 tables, 6 deck, pen 1.8, min $3, max $100, rules s17, ds, dsa, ls, hide
(Notes: The 2 deck game is new at this casino also the posted max at 6 deck is $50 but they will make the maximum $100 if you ask.)

CBJN report for Kewadin Casino (I), Sault Saint Marie MI. Conditions as of 2003.
    2 tables, 2 deck, pen 0.5, min $5, max $200, rules s17, d10, ls, hide, nm, sc
9 tables, 6 deck, pen 1.9, min $3, max $500, rules s17, ds, dsa, ls, hide

CBJN report for Kewadin Casino (I) Saint Ignace, MI. Conditions as of 2003.
    2 tables, 2 deck, pen 0.6, min $5, max $200, rules s17, d10, ls, hide, nm, sc
10 tables, 6 deck, pen 1.5, min $3, max $500, rules s17, ds, dsa, ls, hide

Years ago I heard reports of them confiscating chips. I don't know if true or not. I never had any trouble playing there.

My first time ever playing blackjack was at Kewadin Sault Saint Marie, on New Years Eve 2002-03. I had no idea what I was doing and won $25!

I use to get over to the Kewadin casinos quite a bit. I remember I was with my son on a trip to check out Lake Superior State University as a possible college choice for him. Later that night I was playing at the Kewadin in the Soo and losing badly. Suddenly the game turned around and what was bound to be a losing night turned into a winner. When we got home, I found out my Mom died just about the time the game turned. Coincidence???

Checked out on 1/10/16. Started feeling itchy the next afternoon. Noticed bites on my chest and abdomen. I'm sure it's bed bug bites. And I've already put my clean clothes in closet and drawers. Will have to watch for bed bugs and for sure wash everything in my closet. I'm sick over this.

It was Oct. of 2012, woke up to go to the bathroom. When I cam back and pulled the covers back to climb into bed. There they were! They came to the room in hazmat suits and changed our room. No one else in our party noticed them in their rooms.

If you are still holding any chips this might interest you or anybody else that is.

One thing very unusual about the chips at Kewadin casino in Sault St Marie is their chip tray has two kind of chips.

Since this casino is right on the border with Canada many folks come over from Canada to play. If you buy in with Canadian money they will give you the Canadian chips, and if you buy in with U.S. money they give you the U.S. chips. When you cash out you either get American or Canadian money.

PS. It has been a long time since I been there. I assume this is still the case.

Speaking of Canada. It is very easy to miss the last exit in the Soo and go over the international bridge. Before 911 it was very easy to enter Canada. All you needed was your drivers license. I have never entered Canada after 911, but did so on several occasions before 911.

Anyway, I was wondering if you make a wrong turn and entered Canada by mistake how would you get back if you don't have a passport or other documents. Once you go past the last exit in the Soo there is no turning around and over the international bridge you go. Now in my case I have an Enhanced Drivers license, but my wife does not. She just has a regular license. This has never happened to me, but I always wondered what would happen if you entered Canada by mistake.

Anybody enter Canada by mistake without a passport? How did you get back?

Pre- 9/11, I bicycled across the border (Ogdensburg-Prescott bridge). Canadian customs took apart my bicycle, looking for drugs in the tubes. No issues coming back.

Did you wear an onion on your belt? That was the style at the time.

You can elect to just turn around without actually being admitted.

Reminds me of an episode of a reality show that's aired here called Border Security. A bunch of kids went joy riding along with their pot and booze, took a wrong turn and ended up at the border. They were turned around, but not until their booty was confiscated and they paid a bunch of fines for attempted smuggling of controlled substances.

Last time I was at a Kewadin casino, their chips were not the standard colours and their $5 chips and their $100 chips were almost the same colour. On one hand, I almost bet a $100 chip by mistake. Hopefully the picture posted is an indication that they are moving to the standard colours.
