Most scenic playable casino(s) vacation location

The family wants to plan a 5 day vacation (fly, stay 5 days, fly back) next month. A scenic location where its possible to hike, sightsee and such. Obviously, I would prefer places where I could go play nearby. Its July and Las Vegas is both, hot and a place we have visited often.

The spouse suggests Northern California or Colorado (Rockies). There may also be places in Wisconsin or Michigan. I am hoping for a casino/hotel or two where we can stay, go out during the day, me play BJ in the evening.

    Please suggest.

In 3 months, Michigan will be beautiful. One of the best places in the fall. Not bad right now if you like boating/ water sports. Gaming is mostly Indian casinos.

Now might be the time to visit Minnesota or South Dakota?

If you want to go out of country Alberta is beautiful. Great hiking and mountains just an hour from the city.

Okay, here are three vacation locations in the Midwest with a casino nearby.

My first choice for you would be the Wisconsin Dells in southern WI. This would be only about 400 miles from St Louis so maybe you could drive instead of fly.

Second would be hiking in Porcupine Mountains in MI Upper Peninsula. This is a hard destination to get to and the closest casino would be 70 miles away in Watersmeet. Bond Falls is about 10 miles from the casino.

Third would be canoeing or rafting on St Croix river in Danbury WI. Very good blackjack in Danbury, but not much else around.

By the way, I always enjoyed the WI Dells. We went there on our honeymoon. We took our kids there, and my kids now take their kids there. The boat rides are great. It is a real tourist destination.

Worked in upstate New York from 2001-2008, been to Niagara Falls a number of times, been on the mId of the most Nd other stuff at that park.

Thinking of flying into Denver, driving the scenic route to Salt Lake City and back to Denver, fly back. Lots of great scenery (google "Scenic route from Denver to Salt Lake City".) But have not identified any casinos on that drive.

When you get to Salt Lake City keep going for another 100 miles and you will be in blackjack single deck heaven. I-70 will take you thru Eisenhower Tunnel. The one time I went thru it I think the second tunnel was still under construction. There are casinos off I-70 outside of Denver. Visit Rocky Mountain National Park.

Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada. Beautiful little town on Lake Ontario. Flowers everywhere.
Lots of old homes (1800s). Quiet peaceful place. Nice people.
Lots of B & Bs. 4 or 5 midsize hotels. Probably difficult getting reservations
The Shaw Festival begins today, goes through December. (3 playhouses, professional plays authored by Shaw & his contemporaries-lots of contemporaries-he lived to 94.) May be difficult to get tickets at this late date.
Everything is within walking distance. Excellent restaurants.
14 miles from Niagara Falls, Canada & its casinos.

Here’s a thought. Go on a vacation where there aren’t any casinos close by so you don’t get tempted. Enjoy your family and other things. I’ve don’t that, meaning choosing vacation destinations purposely where I know there’s no casinos around. That way I never have to get tempted and I enjoy everything else. It’s very relaxing and you don’t have to worry about winning or losing.

I think that Denver to Salt Lake City vacation sounds like a great idea!
