Depends exactly which rules you mean. If it's H17 vs S17, or NDAS vs. DAS, I disagree. If it's 6:5, then I agree.

obviously, it depends on which rules...pick any 2 though (H17, NDAS, NS, DO) and i'm out as i will get the same ev w/ a slower dealer (and get to raise my bet more often)

It means that by the time I get to the casino the issue of rules has already been considered. The variables I face upon arrival are game speed, penetration and various other dealer dependent aspects of play.

Sharky, it isn't 1980 any more. There are very few games left with good rules. The one state that mandates good rules is pretty sweaty. Plenty of people I know can't play there any more. It's a big country. And you're wrong about +1. An H17 NDAS DD game has an edge at +1. You're not making your money at +1, even with good rules because you only have a 2 unit bet out. you make the bulk of your money at +3 and above.

Goes to show how little you know about the side effects of being an AP. The more an AP plays (full time pros are at the top), the higher their stakez, the number of years They have been playing, the count they use (more complex) all lead them to lives where they have developed a nasty personality. They know they have nothing to learn from this forum (yet religiously they are on it almost every day), but they are in denial, they convince themselves they want to help newbies and intermediates but actually, they wAnt to get their anger, their hostilities and to boast about their experiences.

You have to post and then watch your thread for the occasional answer to your OP as pages and pages are filled with fights that develop and while they fight for the right to be the bigger bully (think about a couple of lions fighting over the carcass of a dead deer.

As a newbie, you get impressed by their BJ success but if you read these forums, you can see the devastating side effect of being a full time AP. There is a reason or two why the very best (Don S and Dr. Wong or Norm) no longer play full time or at all. They are the ones who also don't get on every thread and when they do, they address the OP.

These full timers who are taking their hostilities out on the forum every day serve the purpose of cautioning us from getting into too much BJ. They are the label on a cigarette packet cautioning us.

I find I also have to take a break when I’m in casinos too much. I can handle a weekend, but if it’s one of those three day Holliday weekends and I’m at a casino, I start getting cranky. The key is to limit your play, take breaks and enjoy the ploppies and casino staff. I’ve had some of my best times with them. You couldn’t make some of this stuff up.

sneaking in a device that is going to be used for cheating I would never do. I know a casino doesn't want a customer to have any cheating device.... So this IS NOT AN ISSUE. I mentioned tally counters. Little plastic tally counters. The first time I stepped foot in a casino was September 1995. I've read many books on blackjack and also taught myself to count in that .....23 years......I also know that doing something for a long time ....say 23 years..... could just mean your experienced doing something the wrong way for 23 years.

Maybe it's me that's way off here.....but isn't cheating common sense that you don't do it? And devices that are "cheating devices" would be known by the person using that device knows why they are using it ( to cheat) Thus wouldn't need to be pointed out.

Intellectually here it seems like there are people who think they are so smart, so gifted, so above others...it gets very sickening for a "commoner" or "mere mortal" to read this forum and see in almost every thread people end up insulting someone....

So if you are one to think you have all the answers, that you are better, smarter, higher IQ than anyone else and because of that you think you can say whatever the fuck you want, insult, belittle, and say so and so is whatever you say they are....I will say this to you.....you are no better than anyone else. You are wrong for thinking you are so much better smarter whatever than anyone else. You are maybe good at AP play, but you may suck with the ladies or at cooking or whatever you suck at. So get off your high horse and realize whatever you may be good at today may be taken away from you tomorrow. Then you won't know shit, but you'll still be an asshole.

You need to be careful as to what you do, or do not accept as meaningful advice. Should you chooses to ugnore the advice regarding mechanical aids, you may well find yourself in jail. Though I'm oretty sure that the device mentioned in thus thread us not a big deal (not a legal opinion), the legal fees you will encounter to extract yourself from that situation, will make it a big deal.

+1. This. Yes, I've gotten permission from the pit to take pics. Sometimes they're nice like that. Other times the thought of free advertising is far too terrifying to allow. By using a device to count rounds per hour you are opening yourself up to a lengthy and expensive criminal hearing. Since it's not influencing anything, you might, with a lot of time and money, get out of it. Since you are using it to better gain an edge in general, you may not. Our unsolicited advice was done out of caring. We don't want to see anyone experience an arrest like Grosjean's or worse. No, we don't know your situation, but if your play expands out this way, or you get a boss or surveillance person from out this way to your place, then it will be a very unpleasant issue.
