Agreed! It might not be worth much but at least it settles a friendly disagreement I’ve had with another AP (not on this forum). I’ve believed there should be an index number where it makes sense to double rather than split 4,4 vs 5 and 6. I haven’t seen it any of my bj books, but it just sounded reasonable. I agree I haven’t seen many +13s before and when I have I doubt if I had this unique hand so it’s probably worth even less than one hot dog the rest of my life. But still interesting to know. It’s now another index number seared into my brain that will never add any value. I got too many of these already. Thanks!
Quick (and dumb) question about deviations/ indexes. With a soft 19 vs a Dealer 6, basic strategy says to double. According to table 9 & 10 in Professional BJ (pg 46-49), the index to deviate from this decision is +1 (S17) and 0 (H17)...
Would the deviation be to "stay", or "hit" A,8 v 6? I would assume the player should stay but wanted to be sure...
I Play/Practice on a Probablity Gaming Computer that gives you the optimal decision ON every single play...And you will occasionally see where doubling 44 vs 2,3,4,5, and 6 is better than splitting in a DAS game...As a matter of fact the index for Ho2 for Doubling 44vs2 is +25 whereas splitting this Hand is +27..So unless im mistaken its better to double 44vs2 than it is to split this hand EVEN in a Das game..
