Betting ramps to optimize hourly EV instead of SCORE in CVCX

CVCX produces poor betting ramps when your bankroll is hundreds of times the table limit, because it has you underbet the small positive counts.

What I want to to do instead of maximizing SCORE is to maximize the hourly EV subject to the constraint of ROR<2%. It's possible to do this programmatically, but the functionality just isn't built into CVCX yet.

    Here are some examples:

    cvcx.jpg

    cvcx2.jpg

In the second one, the hourly EV was increased by 50% above CVCX's betting ramp, while keeping the ROR at 0%

If you want to maximize hourly rate with a large bankroll and a small min bet, then just bet the max when the count is positive. Of course you won't last long. If you're concerned about cover, just raise the bet as quickly as you think is safe.

That doesn't quite work in my example. If you bet $500 when TC=1, the ROR goes up to 2.8%. In many cases I still need some ramp, but a more aggressive ramp than the one CVCX produces.

You gotta love it. Buy in for 10-20k, off the top with 2x5. Nah, this modest spread shouldn't attract to much attention.

This is for a road trip to the middle of nowhere. I buy-in for 1 max bet or less and rebuy as needed. If they can't catch you with a 25-1 spread then they won't catch you with a 100-1 spread.

I guess you haven't seen Joe's talk about spreading from $25 to 2x$1000 all over the country. His median backoff was between 1-4 hours, but several places let him play for days.

So you buy in for $1000 and bet 2x$5. No that doesn't look unusual.

If someone sat down at your table and started to play like that would you make any kind of comment to the fellow player?

All the time, and unlikely haver never met these people.
Example 1. Didn't I warn you about being shy.
Example 2. You brought the cannons, and your betting like a fegelah.
Example 3. You bought in for that, and you put out that squeaky fart.

Then, you can lean over, reach behind and say, let me see if I can find one more for you.

    Subtlety is important.

I have said things like, "It looks like you aren't very confident buying in for 100 bets. I hope your negative attitude doesn't curse the cards. Do you really lose 100 bets that often?"
