Btw, I recently told a guy playing stacks of black chips to stay away from 6:5. I hope he listened!

A benefit of this change is that the dealers for the most part deal down now to one deck at the 8D tables. I have observed this at number of times on recent trips. After the change in the rules, the penetration was inconsistent. Some dealers were still cutting off two decks. So, I have to admit, since I am not a fan of Mohegan, that the 8D, H17, 3:2 game is equally as good as Foxwoods. Foxwoods has a slight advantage in my opinion since every table has these rules except in the HL room. So, there are more tables to choose from whereas Mohegan has fewer and, it seems, fewer of these tables available. For example in the earth casino they have nudged out the 3:2 tables with more roulette and Spanish 21.
It's been slow at Mohegan Sun. Stopped in today and for a Saturday afternoon there wasn't much happening.

The dealers are constantly complaining about the drop in tokes and no one listens to them either.

By the by, did you happen to come across the 4 S17, $10 minimum tables in the Sky Casino? Don't anyone get too excited. They may be S17 but they are 6:5. Makes you wonder what the thinking was there.

I gave up on the Sky. If I see 6:5, I don't bother to investigate further! I guess they are trying to see what they can get away with or what the players respond to better?

If I stop in for a meal, it is usually on a Sunday or Monday. I can confirm that the Earth casino, which is usually busy, looks a bit thin lately. Even the 6:5 pit has only had half of its tables open. Some of the BJ tables in the regular Earth pit aren't even open at mid-afternoon.

Maybe somewhat knowledgeable players are going to MGM? Two pits there were 6D, 3:2, ASM, and late surrender. The penetration was...wow! If you can play $25 minimums, you are in business! 8^) MGM has even established bus service from all over CT to make getting there easier!

I can't tell you how many times I've walked by and seen someone betting 2 or even 3 spots at $5 with the quarter on each hand. Even more baffling is the fact that there regular games steps away at $10 and $15 minimums. It defies logic.
Hey, full disclosure I'm a ploppy and usually play in the Newport Room. However, one morning when I was walking around I decided to sit at this table until my wife got up. I ended up playing about 30 minutes, but I was told it's 6 deck and the same rules as the Newport room. I was playing $10 to avoid the ante, but wouldn't this be a lower HE than the other $10 tables w/8 decks? I honestly can't remember if it was really the same rules as the Newport room, but it might not be that bad of a game for us ploppies. So, funny side note- I asked the dealer and pit boss if they were moving to 6:5 blackjack and they had no idea what I was talking about. I had to explain how they pay different lol. They hadn't head of 6:5 blackjack coming to Foxwoods.

Typical Foxwoods staff. They know darn well that the dealer must hit soft 17 at those $1 tables and stay on it in the Newport room. There's a good possibility that you didn't see the dealer have a S17 in the 30 minutes you played but it is clearly printed on the felt.

If they are ignorant about 6:5, why educate them? Di you want them to go to 6:5 carney games instead of BJ? That is a likely outcome.

Sounds like most tables are 6:5? If that’s the case, won’t make my trek there.....

At last count there were 44 6:5 tables at Mohegan Sun. There are also 2 pits of 3:2 in the Casino of the Earth; one with $15 minimums and one with $25 minimums. There is one 3:2 pit in the Casino of the Sky with $15 minimums. All are 8 decK H17. High limit rooms still have the good rules. Penetration has improved slightly.

Foxwoods has 3:2 at $10 minimums most times with great pen but stay out of the Fox Tower. The entire main floor there is 6:5 now.

I'm curious. Are many folks playing those 6:5 games?

Thanks for the tip on the double post.

Yes, the 6:5 tables are getting play. They are always $10 minimums. What's difficult to determine is the truly clueless versus those who claim to understand but still bypass the $15 minimum 3:2 tables that are just steps away.

Not helping are the lies and misrepresentations from the pit to get players to stay at these tables. They are shameful and they work. They downplay it by asking things like how often does a blackjack occur anyway? You just play for fun so blackjacks don't matter. Play the side bets to make up for the short pay. Shameful and disgusting.

Are they actually saying that? I would be on the floor cracking up if I heard a casino employee say that! Not that it would be very surprising though.

I've had many a player tell me it's stupid to play a bad game like Sp21 without playing MTD. That's the whole point of the game!
