Just watched the last casino, did they martingale?

The plot drives me nut. How can a guy having a gambling problem teach students how to count cards? and at the illegal casino, are they simply martingale or shuffle tracking?

That's the Canadian knock off version of the movie 21, right? IIRC, they were just martingaling in the illegal casino -- the place where they were betting stacks of actual cash.

It was actually a pretty good movie, made well before 21. Right in the beginning, the coach hits a hand that he shouldn't, then raises his bet big time and gets a snapper. It really had its moments.

Yes, they we're martingaling at the underground casino. Dealer was shuffling a single deck after every hand.

The script mentioned nothing about tracking. It was based on some crazy prof`s fantase to finance his racing addiction. Basically a stupid idiot production. I have it stored in my archives.

That part always bothered me. They had other AP options, they didn't have to resort to gambling. Maybe the writer also had a gambling problem?

They were lied to by their coach. They felt they were in danger, because the mobster banked coach blew some if his winnings on other endeavors - as I recall.

I think you're right. And they went to the casino to win back the money that their coach blew. But if they were in danger, why would they blindly gamble instead of playing with an advantage? If I recall correctly, that game looked very beatable. That part always bothered me - that a movie about APs would have their fate determined by a gamble.

Can't recall specifically anymore, but I think the coach intimated that the players themselves were in danger, and he definitely lied to them about the amount he owed the mobsters - coaches intent to pay off the mobsters, and steal the players remaining Bank.

Players casino options were also very limited, since they had been "made" and flyered everywhere.

Should add that their last casino game offered was a single deck dealt after every hand, and the girl noted that card or cards (I think 5's) had been removed.

I just watched it again and you're right - single deck shuffled after every hand with 2 aces and 2 tens removed. But it was still beatable.

It was probably at least one of the best movies made on BJ. BTW, 21 was rancid!

I enjoyed the movie. But yes they just won off of martingaling a short deck.

And at the start the professor split 10s then doubles soft 21 vs a dealer 10. Unless he had hole card info, as hole card was a 6.
