Thread: How to Approach a Situation?

Since this thread just goes on and on I thought there is one important aspect that has not been touched on yet. Up to a couple of days ago the decision by the casino on what exactly to do with the seven hand man in Australia had not been decided. Regardless of personal opinions on his play what is said on internet boards may affect outcomes, rule changes, essentially everything that has to do with advantage play. All I know is the Freighter and myself belittled the man to no end and two others insisted the guy, and his methods were going to be successful. Who gave the man the best shot to continue his unobstructed play? Who knows what or when a real gem will come out of a board member's post who does not fully recognize the value of the find. How do we treat the individual on the forum like a genius?

Bosox, do you really think some casino in Australia is using this forum to make decisions on some player in their casino? Are you serious? Casinos - including Australian casinos - have more important things to do then spend time on forums. They probably have a life. That's a joke.

About "seven hand man", Davethebuilder said playing seven hands is very common by players in Australia. Were you just making fun of this guy or all Australians? Again, that's a joke.

Also, I'm somewhat confused by your post? Were you making fun of his play to give him cover so he could play this way, or were you making fun of his play since you thought it didn't make sense?

With all this said, I think you and Freightman took all the comments on this thread way too seriously. Freightman got so unraveled he had to go to his wife for a counseling session. I feel bad for Mrs. Freightman and would like to extend my applogies to her.

Let me clarify a couple of things. First, any interaction I had with my wife, regarding you, was in regards to some dipshit moron acting in his capacity as chief hemmorhoid. Second, and let me be clear - leave your putrid comments regarding mine or anyone else's family, at the front door. If you want part time work as my personal stalker, no problem - have at it.

If there's anything that this thread has taught us, is that you're a tasteless little prick, lacking common sense.

Freightman, you were the one who told this forum about the counseling session you were having with your wife. When I read that post, I sincerely felt bad for Mrs. Freightman. You were taking this much too seriously! I have never talked to my family about what goes on in this forum. I enjoy this forum but it's not that important to my life to where I'd discuss it with my family, friends or co-workers.

I still think we should all chip in and fly you over to Australia so you can split your 10s and show the Aussies how a "true AP" plays.

No need to burden yourself with unnecessary expense. I evaluate my own expertise over a number of factors. My personal results are impressive. Son, you're not in my league.

I split 10s in neutral counts. Ploppies get angry when I lose or bust, "You never never ever split 10s, (it's) very bad strategy," but after next few rounds/shoes in negative counts, I continue splitting 10s and getting a few 20s or 21s (21 still pays even money).

So ploppies finally claim, "You are so lucky tonight." ????????????

Freightman, on this point we are in violent agreement. I'm sure your results are much more impressive than mine. I've never claimed my results are impressive. In fact, I've freely admited my results are not impressive but they are positive.

I know I probably play for a different reason than most on this forum. I play for the same reason I played chess and bridge in my younger years. I enjoy the challenge of the game and it's a way for me to relax on weekends. I also like interacting with the ploppies and people I wouldn't normally interact with in my job. I've become friends with some elderly snowbirds from my casino experience and gone to dinner with them. Overall, my casino experiences have been positive since they always comp me all my meals and hotel stays so I don't have much bad to say about casinos. I'm sure my view would be different if my play was more aggresive and I was routinely kicked out of casinos.

When you split 10s and sometimes end up with 21 you can still push your hand correct, as that is not how you described it? Seriously, you sound like someone who is a worse player than a ploppy. I did not think that was possible. Or you are a shuffle tracker?

If your play was more aggressive the casinos would still have no reason to throw you out.

Bosox, that was a good comeback. I'll give you that one.

To your point, I have been 86'd and backed off from casinos when my game was much weaker than it is now. Also, my spread was more conservative at that time. Believe it or not, I got 86'd from a casino spreading from $10 to $40 about 10 years ago and they are a major chain with casinos throughout USA. From my contact in that casino, I found out I'm in their data base and can't play rated at any of their casinos.

Since that time I've got smarter from reading a lot of bj books and not playing or acting like a counter. I also picked up some good tips from APs on this forum that I've incorporated into my play currently. I've actually got more aggressive with my ramps and l'm making more money but I'm still not on their radar screen. This forum has definitely helped me step up my game. I've probably even picked up a tip or two from you and Freightman that has helped my game. So all's good...

Saying that you are still not on the radar screen is nothing more than speculation. As the true wisdom of Zen_Master Flash's words could very well bite you right in the ass:

" There is no heat until there is."

Fair point. So far I've been playing at some of these casinos for 10 years fairly regularly with no problems. Obviously things can change at anytime. The key is I always say under their "check play" threshold and I blend in pretty good.

Believe it or not, ploppies, dealers and pit bosses still help me out with my hands. When the play is close, I take their advice. Bottom line is I act like a ploppy and don't mind when the table gets upset at me for doing things like hitting the 2 against the dealer's 3 and taking the dealer's "bust card". I appoligize and tell the table I'll try to do better the next time. It doesn't bother me that the ploppies, dealer and pit boss sometimes thinks I'm the least informed player at the table. In fact, I kind of like playing that role.

Like I said, I'm smarter (as far as "getting away with it") today then I was 10 years ago. At the casino where I'm most aggressive, I have been playing rated for 20 years without issues. At this casino, I will never take them for more than $2,000 in a weekend because they have been very good to me, comping me on everything whenever I go there.
