    Want a Job

I happened to stumble across this casino opening for a general manager.
    https://job-openings.local-jobs.mons...o/11/193497562

Anyway, its fun to look at the qualifications for the job. Heck, they want someone with an MBA. They will probably pay almost nothing. Besides, most of these managers got their brains up their ass anyway.

I always thought it might be a good time to visit a casino when they are in the middle of a top management shake up.

OR...you could apply, get the job, change all the games based on the post about AP run casinos and see what happens!

60K isn't bad...not to great for a master's level education though. Of course, there are those who work in academia for peanuts so...what do I know?

Player, are you interested in applying? Would be funny having an AP run the joint and make it counter un/friendly just to see reactions.

Most service industry management jobs have a decent wage (I'd say $60K is decent), but you make most of your money on whatever bonus you earn. If you look at this specific job posting, it's not in a major metropolitan area, and the salary range is $140-$150.

If a casino is a "den of decadent misery" and the people who work there are of "the utmost mediocrity', what does it make all of those here who hang out with the mediocre in a den of decadent misery?

Beats me. I hate the casino atmosphere. I'm only in them for one thing and one thing only, and making sure I'm a long-term winner..

You did choose the career/activity that takes you among the "utmost mediocre" in the "den of decadent misery" despite other options. It must make you something. A culture circling the dying?

Personally, I disagree with either description. Casinos fascinate me. Casinos bring diversity to my life. Casinos allow me to mingle, converse, learn and expose me to people I would not ordinarily interact with and it keeps me from surrounding myself with others like me. I respect the people who work there, who do their jobs well.

You're mistaken. I didnt say the staff are mediocre as individuals (hell I've even dated a couple croupiers that I've met in casinos), but what their jobs entail. Specifically the one that is the topic of this thread.

And that IS the sad truth; we are seen as vultures by casinos because of our skills and we do get by grinding out a profit which probably originally came from the degenerate gambler who just gambled their electricity bill money.

It chose me to an extent with my circumstances.

Which is why they welcome you back with open arms Zee.

For the rest of us, we're not there to be "loved" by everyone as we piss away money in sub-par play. I'd rather be other places than inside a casino. The profit is the secondary focus. Beating the game is the primary focus.
