Does anyone use the 6/5 and other carnival-game listings in CBJN?

It was recently suggested to me that we drop the listings of 6/5 and carnival games like Zappit from CBJN, which would result in the number of pages being substantially reduced, as well as reducing the work for reporters. My initial reaction was that it's a good idea, but I would like to hear if anyone uses those listings. Thanks.

Do not use for carnival games, so dropping them is fine. Don't play 6:5, so I guess it would make sense to drop them also.

I like BJ variants to be includes. Wouldn't miss the 6:5 BJ reports. Although if you are going to a casino that mostly has 6:5 it would be nice to know.

Al, what are we defining as 'carnival game'? Would Spanish 21 be included as well?

6/5 and even money listings could be 'squished', that is, compressed into a single line with a remark similar to "This casino features a non-3/2 payout structure for certain games. Caveat Emptor." or whatever.

As a side note: I notices certain data is out-dated. It would be of great interest to keep as much data as accurate as possible. I would be willing to pay a few extra a month for "accurate data bonuses" to contributors who provide verifiable up-to-date data on all stores across the union.

The advantage of listing 6:5 games is really to alert that such games exist. I have already sat down at a 6:5 game and started playing without realizing it wasn't 3:2. Also by including such games it gives a feel of how the casino thinks of their players.

The cost of CBJN would be prohibitive if every casino in it was updated every month. It is really a good thing that a lot of casinos are not updated. Also are you really going to get enough reporters to report on all the casinos especially when a single casino report is worth only $7.00

CBJN reporters have been paid the same amount for the last 20 years at some peril to themselves. I remember I was once asking a dealer about their rules and the dealer suddenly calls over the pit boss saying this guy is asking a bunch of questions about our blackjack games.

I say keep them in. It’s nice to know if a casino has them so you know to watch where you sit more closely. I also appreciate the variants being in there as some of them are beatable.

Difficult question and depends on what it takes to keep in them. Personally, I like as much info as I can possibly get. And, I like to see trends. And, I don't want to discount the possibility of finding a method of attack against an unusual game.

I vote to keep them in. I do play single deck 6:5 games IF they offer things like DAS, surrender after taking a hit, splitting aces and DAS.

I certainly vote to keep the Spanish 21 in; purchased Katarina Walker's book recently and will be working on getting up on the game over the next months. Definitely valuable to keep on there for AP.

I'm good with dropping 6:5 if the casino offers 3:2. If it's an all 6:5 casino, I'd like to know. I also like BJ variants, like SP21, Switch and Freebet.

    Thanks for asking us!

I mentioned on another board that I just don’t feel that removing 6:5 and carnival games would make things any easier for the scouters and reporters. If they are at a casino to scout conditions then they should be looking at every table to determine if it’s 3:2 or if it’s a carnival variant. If it turns out that it’s 6:5 or a variant, might as well report on it.

Might I add some people play and live off of 6:5 so they want, and need to know that info. Spanish is obviously not going to be deleted as some people solely play that.
