    Sri Lanka BJ

I am taking a trip to Sri Lanka and noticed they have casinos and blackjack. In the promo video they show BJ being dealt from a shoe.

In any event, what I’m really worried about is being barred and being physically assaulted, having funds confiscated, corrupt border guards if I end up having a lot of cash, cheating etc etc... No casino there is owned by a large, legitimate corporation. And what am I gonna do? Sue in a Sri Lankan Court? Call the Sri Lankan Police if I am assaulted? They just ended a civil war there 9 years ago...

So has anyone been or have advice?

Colombo, the capital, has several casinos
and are fiercely competing for Asian whales.

South Asian Casinos, in general, are viewed
with extreme caution by A.P.'s and tourists.

How about with all them worries you just skip the BJ. Why would you want to play that is the question. Just because there is a casino and BJ does not require you to play.

Can't be that much of a PLAYER advantage with all the disadvantages that you have listed.

Colombo used to be good, but from my last visit a couple of years ago and from what I've heard it's more or less unplayable these days. Unless you are local/asian and have access to good unpublished LR deals.

Last time I was there mostly CSMs. There used to be a 10% daily loss rebate, and one store had a five card charlie automatic half win. Did not see that last time. As with most places, "used to be good".

Still, look around. They sometimes have interesting promotions and side bets. I myself never heard any reports of cheating there.

Barred/assaulted ? No. When the game was playable (a fair few years back) the manager thought we were ratholing chips to increase the LR, which was then based on an honour system. He simply screamed at the dealers for a few minutes, who began dealing half shoes. That was the extent of the countermeasure.

Also, dealing speed was roughly 30 rounds an hour at best.

Could you tell me which place still has the half win at blackjack? Or the five card Charlie rule? The Wizard of Odds claims with the “win-half-your-bet” rule, you have a player advantage. Could you email me bj21abc? [email protected]

Sri Lankan people are the most polite and considerate folks around. In my travels, I rank them only second to Japanese. The casinos I played in had mostly Chinese and Indian BJ players. The high bets seen were about $100, mostly lower.

I was told the max was 50,000 Sri Lankan Rupees. About $320.

I don't think these casinos will let people count cards. Indians are even better in Mathematics than Asians. Just like in China, Singapore and most casinos in Korea, they all use CSM at Blackjack tables.

Yes, like at a U.S. Game, the minimum is $25, the max may be $2500 or more but how many folks bet the max? And does a max bet draw attention here?

Good question. Frankly if it’s a play +EV game, and they use a CSM who cares?

All I’m wondering is if I learn the strategy perfect, and I’m a Caucasian, will they boot me?
