    2018 oddities thus far.

I’ve seen several things done by casinos so far this year that makes me wonder how on earth they are still in business.

    1. Played in a store whose shuffle policy was to remove the deck from the ASM, and then hand shuffle it.

    2. Witnessed a dealer who takes his job way too seriously literally slap players’ hands for touching chips or holding the cards with both hands.

    3. Witnessed a dealer error on a player double down hand of ten. Player doubled, dealer didn’t notice and passed the hand by, dealt the next player the ace. Pit ruled the card would be burned. Player drew a six instead and lost.

It amazes me how quickly casinos forget they are supposed to be in the customer service industry.

    Item 1 is stupidity
Item 2 is assault, call the critter over if the dealer pissed you off
Item 3 happens all the time, sometimes on purpose. I had this little shit if a combo critter dealer pull that on me. Swing was about $600. A week or 2 later, miss goody two shoes fucks up with about a 2k error in my favour. Righteous retribution.

Casinos don't give a shit. Behind the smiles etc., their goal is to empty your wallet.

That is how it is done in one of my places to play, only it is a one time pass through shuffle. I suppose they think they are proving some sort of integrity or something. Meanwhile, they continue introducing pre-shuffled cards replacements on all tables.

Hand shuffling an ASMd shoe is not uncommon.

It keeps players happy (that the shuffle is truly random)
plus keeps management happy that a malfunctioning ASM will not result in an unshuffled shoe which a sharp player could kill.

Others two are rarer, but not that rare...

Absolutely! They are paying ~$500/mo/ASM, then cutting down the hph in addition. great for the bottom line.

The casinos are still in Business and its critics are parking cars for them. First, there is plenty of profits with the slots, the carnival games, the clubs and the hotels. Second, slowly but surely, they are cutting back on BJ tables and despite an initial drop off, the customers still seem to return so why the @#$& should casinos not do everything to keep non employees from making a living off them?

Because the meaures they use to do this hurts both APs AND themselves. It hurts themselves much more than it hurts APs however. For example I’ve seen shuffling cards that have already been shuffled do nothing but annoy the players. I’ve seen many eye rolls at it as they came to the casino to play cards rather than watch the dealer shuffle shuffle shuffle.

As my father used to say
"Are you trying to rub the balls off those jacks?"

ZeeBabar, the casinos would rather waste hundreds, and hundreds of hours re-shuffling cards not making a cent doing this to attempt to prevent you from making $120 dollars and a free buffet.

Please, do not say that in front of Zee, who can play all his life because he is a retired professional in another field who does not need the money only to socialize.
