    Side-Counting Sevens: ...

I was recently attacked for having a "secret" side-count.
That is NOT true ~ especially since I teach my students
(who have ready access to playable pitch games) my
Side Count for Sevens to add to my Side Count for Aces:

This was the last mathematical exercise:

There are just nineteen (19) hands to adjust.

Note: If you are befuddled by me, please take a moment to
review P. Griffin's chapter on this topic, where he
    showed us
how, beyond Aces, it is sevens (7's) that provide most of the
    fine
enhancement to the Playing Efficiency to be had.

Note that Don's "Illustrious 18" captures about 90% of what
    is available for P.E.

I have read the chapter in theory. In terms of EV/hr what can a seven count provide us? Is it worth the hassle of learning?

Wouldnt 15,16 vs 7,8 be worth knowing too?

There are a few of these in the chart. Would you not want to increase the RC for excess 7's remaining?

Edit: I see now. Never mind. These are playing decisions not betting decisions.

7's have an EOR that is positive for the player, so you wouldn't want to bet more on the basis of more sevens left either.

When I was crunching the digits it became evident to me that it is powerful
in SD and great in DD, but rapidly loses power in a shoe game, although I
would (perhaps) use it in a Four Decker, though I haven't seen same in 4ever.

    Diminishing
returns is inversely proportional to the number of decks in play.
Highly correlated but not perfectly linear, I no longer have any of my original data. This is easy to illustrate by using a C.A. or a simulation to get valid reliable results. The data used in Griffin's 'Theory of Blackjack...' provides a bit of inaccuracy, (especially with pair-splits) because his data is for one
[and only one] single decision. This provides perfect data results for most Double/Hit decisions, as a 4th card is not possible. The inaccuracy is most significant for splits, where the inability to re-split (as found in some "pitch" games) is rather costly, especially for the re_splits of 8's.

In any case, knowledge of how to be a little more accurate had permitted me to profit nicely spreading 4-1 in the common DD H17 game (H.E. 0.40%) and 3-1 in high stakes DD S17 games (H.E. 0.19%). Admittedly my net profits were slight, but when I did go to 5-1 and 4-1 respectively, the difference in (cash) results, was stronger than expected.

    These are adjustments for Playing Purposes only;
The E.O.R. of a seven is like that of a deuce ~ weak.

If it is for Hi Opt II, then Zen users can still use them, just not as effective. For Hi-Lo users, these parameters need to be cut in half in order to use them. (Because face card weighs two in Hi-Opt II and Zen but only one in Hi-Lo.) Also again, not as effective.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Correct, though the remaining hand-matchups are far more common.

    Thanks for the quick response.
For Hi-lo users side counting sevens the improvement for SCORE to over 5% in a six deck game. I would recommend for Hi-lo users who don't want to move to a level 2 count to side sevens to improve performance in BC and IC. Changing the insurance index would improve your PE performance. Side counting sevens would bring down the insurance index to +2 instead of +3 using Hi-lo.
